He was born Feb. 13, 1903, in Oklahoma, before it was a state. At the time it was Indian Territory. He survived segregation and the Great Depression. He’s been married four times and outlived each of his wives.
At age 107, Bishop Otis Clark, the world’s oldest traveling evangelist, believes he still has more time “to tell the folks how God’s side is the best side to be on.” He explains that getting on God’s side means repenting and becoming a Christian.
He started preaching in 1922 at age 19, after being converted by The Salvation Army ministers while jailed in Los Angeles for bootlegging. He hasn’t looked back since. The 107 year old Man of God still preaches every Sunday at his church, Life Enrichment Evangelistic Epicenter, in Federal Way Washington. Clark plans to travel to Jamaica mission trip in July.
When asked What is the secret to a long life, Bishop Clark answered, “To be perfectly honest, I wouldn’t know. That would be above me. That’s God’s will.” “I’m living for God so I can go to heaven when I die.”
