A Prime Purpose–proclaiming God’s Remedy

God has a tremendous love for every person. He desires each one to enter into a relationship with Him that lasts as Eternal Life, but our sin nature prevents this from happening, for He is holy. However, in His mercy He has provided the remedy for this predicament, and commands His true children to present His remedy to all.

After entering into a personal relationship with God through Christ and studying the Holy Bible, I soon came to the following conclusion: The salvation of each person is the heartbeat of God. Since Adam sinned, mankind has been enslaved to sin whose end is eternal damnation.

Like Adam, we have a will, though limited. We can will to do good, and actually do it, but all the good that we do will never meet the requirement that God has set for a relationship with Him that lasts for eternity and escapes damnation–perfection. As it is written (Mt. 5:48), “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”

So He Himself (Php. 2:6, 1 John 5:20) as Christ took on our flesh and did the very works we need to meet the requirement of perfection. Additionally, in order to establish purity within us, our sins and sin nature were transfered to Him as we went to the cross where the punishment and destruction of these entities was fully met. Even more, He bore our illnesses and sorrows, and provision for our healing was made in His atoning work.

These blessings belong to those who truly surrender to Christ, but with them comes the responsibility of telling others about the remedy offered in Christ. He is the only cure for our sin and sin nature (John 14:6 and Acts 4:10-12), and God is certainly not willing that any should eternally perish (John 3:14-18, 2 Peter 3:9). Those that have a relationship with Christ enter into this desire and have the purpose of proclaiming, both in word and deed, His Answer to all. We join with the Apostle Paul who by the Holy Spirit said (Romans 1:16), “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

This is one of the purposes of the Body of Christ, along with worship and mutual edification.#mce_temp_url#

In those articles about worship and mutual edification I pointed out that even those who are not true disciples of Christ can fulfill those purposes to some level. Can they also perform this purpose?

They can to some degree, either by poll-parroting what they have heard about about the true Gospel, or living a lifestyle that ends in such a way as to be a warning to others. However, they can really fulfill this purpose while enjoying abundant life if they truly surrender to Christ. Remember, God is not willing any should perish.

Notes:

This is the fourth in a series of articles on purpose. The previous articles were as follows:

Your Life Does Have A Purpose

You Might be Fulfilling One of Your Purposes Without Even Knowing It

Another Purpose You Might be Fulfilling Without Knowing It

God willing, if I live, in about two weeks I shall try to publish at least one more, dealing with discovering one’s specific purpose.

Amen. We are not here to merely make money or enjoy. But we, as Christians, have a deeper calling: to tell the world about Christ.
