A Touch of St. Ignatius

The life of St. Ignatius de Loyola is a classic example that we can be happy devoid of all the worldly things and comforts in life. His biography is an inspiration to people who are used to a life of luxury and sins. True happiness does not come from the luxuries we have in life but from the peace of our mind and the contentment of our heart.

He changed for the better when he read about the lives of Christ and of the saints. He began to be dissatisfied of the romantic daydreams and was drawn into the heavenly ones. He was happier when he led a life of humility, charity, patience and discretion than his previous life of extravagance. The new path that he led eventually made him a Saint.

His biography is an inspiration to people who are used to a life of luxury and sins. That it is not yet late to amend our ways. Because of his life story, I learned that even saints also committed sin but what differ them from us is that they repented sincerely and never came back to their wrong doings. This opened to me the reality that it is actually normal to commit sin for we are just mortals and is not perfect. However, we should try our best not to commit the same sin after repenting because it will eventually make our life miserable. God is indeed forgiving but we should not take advantage of His kindness.

Christmas Message »

God shows His love best whenever He gives us trials to surpass. These trials are also tests to our faith with Him. There are times that because of these trials, we commit sin. But isn’t it that we disappoint Him whenever we do that because whenever He gives us struggles in life, He has His whole trust in us that we will be able to succeed it without the stain of sin? I realize that whenever we commit sin, we are offending God. And with that realization, I believe that if I strive hard, I will be triumphant in fighting temptations and be a better person.

Now, it’s clear to me that we should not envy those who seemed to have everything in life – those who live a luxurious life. Simple living will free us from complications which sometimes causes us to commit sin. True happiness does not come from the luxuries we have in life but from the peace of our mind and the contentment of our heart.
