Act on Your Faith

We need to act on our faith as believers if we want to receive from god.

When we think of Church, Religion, Heaven, Jesus and God, with the exception of repentance and salvation, the central theme, issue, concept and challenging issue, is FAITH! Then, as you start looking at faith, what becomes immediately obvious is that not only do we need to know about faith, but we also need to have Faith! As the Bible tells us …

But without faith it is impossible to please him (God): …
Heb. 11:6

And the next thing we find out about faith is that, not only do we need to know about faith not only do we need to have faith .But God goes on to say to us …

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Rom. 1:17

We also need to live by Faith! Therefore we must not only find out about faith .But we must find out what faith is! Where it comes from! How faith works! How to use it and how to live by it!

In its simplest definition Faith is acting on what you believe. And although, it is such an easy, simple concept most people miss it altogether!

Why?
Because most people think faith “believing” and miss the core of what faith is .Faith actually is acting on what you believe. Faith is not “believing” .Believing is just believing! Believing is to put your trust in something. Faith means to act on what you put your trust into. If you say “I believe, whatever, but you fail to act on what you believe, even though, what you believe may be true, historically and or scientifically .You will get no benefit from what you believe until you act on it.

You have to act on what you believe in order to get results.

Examples are

You may be in a restaurant or food store! You know there is food; in fact you can even see the food. You can believe that if you eat of that food, you will not starve! But as right as you are, and as strongly as you believe that, you will starve, unless you act on what you believe and eat!

You may be the proud owner of a brand new car you can read the Owner’s manual, get yourself a driver’s license, You can believe that the car will take you wherever you want to go, But owning a car, and rightfully believing it will take you places will never happen. Unless you put the key in, start it and drive it.

Believing God’s Word and having faith in God’s Word works in exactly the same way!
If you want to benefit from God’s Word, as God has said that you would then you also have to act on what you believe!

But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
James 2:20

The Living Bible puts it this way …

Fool! When will you ever learn that “believing” is useless without doing what God wants you to?

And the Weymouth translation puts it this way …

“Faith without corresponding actions will not work on your behalf.”
Many people say …

I am acting on what the Bible says or promises but nothing is happening. Why is God’s Word not working? Faith is not acting on what the Bible says; faith is not “believing” what the Bible says .Faith is ACTING on what YOU believe! Faith is acting on what YOU put your trust in! only when you act on what you believe, only when you act on the trust YOU have put in God’s Word Only then have you activated faith Only then can God respond to your faith and only then will God’s Word work, as He promised it would! ACTING … on what … YOU … BELIEVE … (implicitly trusting God for!).
