Genesis 1:3-5 clearly States 3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Many skeptics at this point will likely point out that according to Scripture, The Sun was not made until day four. So that would beg the question “How was there Light before the Sun” My friend Mike actually asked this, and it is a fair Question.
At this point I would point out that later on in scripture in the book of Revelation we are told
“And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. ” Revelation 21:23
Just as the New Jerusalem will be Lit by the Glory of God, we can gather (by letting scripture interpret scripture) that the Light before the Sun in Genesis, was the very Glory of God!

Of course this begs the question if the glory of god was doing such a fine job why bother with the sun? But then again god appears to do this kind of thing alot he starts out with purely supernatural events and then creates self sustaining naturalistic phenomena to take over because I guess he gets bored. Or maybe he is just really into fantasy football.
“Of course this begs the question if the glory of god was doing such a fine job why bother with the sun”
Scripture explains that the purpose of the Sun and moon are for more than light Jamie, they also serve another function.
“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for SIGNS, and for SEASONS, and for days, and years”
So in the new jerusalem there will be no night or changing of the seasons only permanent god glory lighting have you ever seen the movie insomnia?
“So in the new jerusalem there will be no night or changing of the seasons only permanent god glory lighting have you ever seen the movie insomnia?” Dear Jamie, Scripture clearly States
1 Corinthians 15:52-53
“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”
In other words, in the New Jerusalem, there will be neither corruption or death, and since we will be with Christ Forever, Eternal, in the New Jerusalem we would have no need for night because we will not need sleep.
