One of the ideas is that when the Antichrist comes their will be a set of trials were the Antichrist will try to gather more people to join his/her side and will receive a mark to know that you are on sides with him/her. During that time, the White Throne Judgment will happen. This is were all those living and dead will be resurrected for an everlasting life (for those who worship God) or death (for those who followed the path of Satan with the mark). In the end of the Judgment Satan, the Antichrist, false prophets and those with the mark will be thrown into hell were they will die together.
In the book of Daniel there is a prophecy of how and what the Antichrist will do. What the passage tells us is that when the world is filled with sinners an evil king will come and will gain power but not through the power he already has. He will bring great destruction to the world and will grow in power. And when we feel safe, he will attack the “Prince of princes” but will still be destroyed but no by us (humans). Other opinions of the Antichrist would be that he/she is a group of people who try to bring sin to the world but are killed by God in the battle of good and evil.
Identity of the Antichrist
A person with theological knowledge would identify the Antichrist by its number (666, number of man), but there are also other numbers what would identify who the Antichrist is. Some people also believe that anyones name can be added to equal the number 666 using a Diophantine equation ( an equation that only uses integers in its variables. Jesus Christ is an example of this and makes it seem as though he is linked to the Antichrist.
Contemporary identification (1st and 2nd Millennium)
There was three ideas of who the Antichrist is during the 1st millennium. (1) spirits of heresy, (2) the Roman Empire, or (3) the resurrected Nero. But in the 2nd Millennium there was many other ideas of who he/she is. In the protestant church , many of its people thought that the Bishop of Rome was the Antichrist such as the Protestant Reformers, but this seemed like a common opinion since many popes have been called an Antichrist by those who believe the opposite of what the pope thought. One of those who thought that the Roman Pope was an Antichrist was Martin Luther.
Because of the way the pope set up the religion, it brought him to believe the Antichrist was him. For example, because of how the pope sold indulgences to help bring you up to heaven. Another opinion of who the Antichrist is was Peter the Great because of how he separated the church from the state and having requirements for those who wanted to enter the churches, such as the paying of taxes.
List of Fictional Antichrist
Azul Dante (Prodigal Project book series), Damien (South Park TV series), Lucy (Cartoon Network TV series), Korihor (Book of Morman), Randall Flagg (Steven King Novels), Christina (Point Pleasant TV series), Griffith (Berserk Comic Series), Pepito (Squee Comic Series), and Agares (James Blish novel). These are only a few of the fictional characters of the Antichrist but there are many others who portrayed the Antichrist in a fictional character.
Personal Reflection/Discussion
What I think is that the Antichrist is just one person, rather then a group of people because it is referred in a singular form more then in a plural form. After researching on the topic of the Antichrist I have found many of the opinions of the Antichrist and what he/she will do to be very dramatic, like something you might see in a movie. What I believe the Antichrist might do is what I have researched on, but in a less “Dramatic way.
I believe that he/she will be a human figure with phenomenal powers who will try to gather his/her own followers to create mass destruction and will soon have his/her own allegiance with massive power. But in the end will be over come by the power of God. Similar to what the book of Daniel has come to think of in his bible passage.
