Sometimes I wonder about missing people. Some people leave their homes with their doors unlocked and mail on the table. There is no sign of violence and no sign of them. Then someone discovers that they are missing. Where did they go? It remains a mystery. They are never found again. Why are they so hard to find? Did they leave the country? Did someone murder them? It’s possible that they could have been murdered. I hate not knowing. People have been disappearing for years and not found this very day.
Whenever I read about Enoch in the Bible, I think of missing people. (Genesis 5:24) And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. Enoch did not have to be buried. By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him… (Heb. 11:5). I wonder if God is still taking people from the earth today in this way. We do not know every secret thing God is doing and what is really on his mind.
In Matt. 24:40-42, Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other one left. (41) Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left. (42) Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. Most people think of Christ coming in the clouds or what they call the rapture, but God can take us away any time. When our time is up on this earth, we have to go. God could take us in our sleep with no sickness or pain. God does not work the same way all of the time. Could he have taken some of the missing people that have been missing for years? Today they are still not found. I’m not saying that God took them. I’m only asking a question. It is a mystery to me how some people suddenly disappear.

Wow! Such a great mystery to ponder. I and my family are waiting for the “rapture”. I believe that when Jesus comes in all power, he will not suffer his “church”…the true believers to suffer the tribulation.
A very enlightening article and biblical. Thank you Gail.
Hi Beauley! Yes, God is going to take care of his people. I agree with you. Thank you for your kind comments and for reading my article.
Interesting to ponder, Gail. There will be lots of things we are amazed at in the coming age, when we will be able to see the amazing works of God that are now sometimes clouded. Brian
You’re right, Brian. There is an old saying that we will understand it better by and by.
When I first seen the title to this article the first word that came to mind was the “rapture”. I am a strong believer in God.
With God all things are possible. I really enjoyed reading this article.
That makes me feel good, Shannon. I’m glad that I can write something for others to enjoy. Thank you.
The rapture is a very recent development in christian history and teaching and is peculiar to fundamentalist and evangelical circles. Scofield, Ryrie and others developed this idea as part of dispensationalism. No christian believed this teaching until almost 1900 years had past… most christians still do not understand pauls statement as “rapture”.
Interesting info in your comment. You told me something that I did not know. I think the rapture is when every eye shall see Christ (Rev.1:7). When Christ said one would be taken and the other one left, it sounds like he is saying one would be saved and the other one wouldn’t be (Matt. 24:40-42). I am left thinking that something bad is going to happen after that for the unsaved. Some of us will be alive when Christ comes. Corinthians 15:51-52 said that we shall not all sleep and that we would be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, and that the dead would be raised incorruptible.
