The Bible said in Ephesians 1:4, “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.” To my understanding, the Bible verse is saying God knew us before the foundation of the world, and we have been called to be holy and without blame before Him.
I have seen the Biblical phrase “foundation of the world” written in the Bible a couple of times. It makes me think of God who was here from the beginning when we were not. It has often made my mind wonder when I was just beginning to understand the Bible. I would think, “That means God knew me before I was ever born. He knew that I would be doing what I am doing right now.”
Thinking the thought, I was reading Rev. 13:8 one day which said, “And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him (the beast), whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” This verse is saying something to me and is puzzling at the same time. There is one thing that I know. The verse is telling me that God knows already who is going to heaven and who is not going to heaven. Even back in the days of Moses, God had a book written. (Exodus 32:33) “And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.” I believe a man’s name can be taken out of the book of life because of this verse and the verse of Rev. 22:19. “And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” I believe that a man can loose his salvation because of this verse. The verse is warning us not to mess up. That means we can mess up. Why would God warn us? He doesn’t let us know these things for nothing because God knows all about us. He knew before the foundation of the world.

Very beautiful*
Blessings.

Hi Liane,
It’s good to see you. Thanks.
Wow, interesting verses, Gail.
I like the idea of god knowing all about us even before we were born, but it leaves me puzzled at the same time.

Hi xNarutox, I’m not puzzled that God knew us before we were born. But it makes me wonder what happened that someone was slained from the foundation in Rev. 13:8. I really have to study that verse.
I believe you are right about The Book of Life. I believe you can only ask for forgiveness to a limit. If you keep on making the same sin and know you are sinning then you are not really sorry for your wrongs and God will take and blot out your name.
You make some really good points that focus on true facts. You draw the attention of a crowd. God bless you!!
Hi Shannon! I agree with you. You seem to have a good understanding of God’s word. Thank you for your comments and God bless you too.
