Being a Disciple

My views on a sermon I once heard.

I heard an awesome sermon once.

The pastor talked about how everyone wants to call themselves a Christian, but what Jesus wants is for us to be disciples. A disciple is a learner, a pupil, a follower, and that’s what we need to be a follower of Jesus.

In order for us to be disciples, we need to be able to touch the untouchable. This means we need to have a heart for people who have been shunned by others, like people who have infectious diseases, or people who are emotionally unstable, etc. We need to be able to love them as Jesus would love them. There’s nothing more powerful that a Godly touch!

We also need to be able to hold our hand out to the lost and the sinners. Jesus, Himself, had dinner in the company of both disciples and sinners, and was questioned and persecuted for it. But, how else can we help others to see Him, but to be there with them.

The other thing we need to do as disciples is be willing to offend those who are against us. We need to be strong and be willing to be persecuted for our faith. God promises to take care and protect us, but we have to be willing to sacrifice our comfort zone in order to be true disciples.
Examples of all of this is found in Luke 25-27, Mark 1:40-42, Matthew 9:10-13, Luke 13:10-14
God bless you all as you work on being disciples of Christ!!!
