Teenagers are confused already as they are teenagers alone. Christians battle uncertainty from living in a world full of worldly things everyday, yes, every single day. Tempted here and there, the temptress does not seem to give up, the devil lurks waiting for the Christian to tire. Imagine the bewilderment that is faced by a Christian teenager. The pressure from both being a teenager and being a Christian combined, can one not end up being beaten?

Being a teenager can be a load of confusion. The teenager is no longer a kid and not yet an adult. What then is a teenager? It’s a pile of confusion for most of us. Call it teenage angst because the writer is a teenager (yes, I still am) but it’s true. We don’t know where we stand; we’re in the middle of things. And from there, we can only hope we are heading the right way.

Being a Christian means being selfless and giving. Christians back-slide and take wrong turns along the way, most especially when the said Christian- is a teenager! They are too nice and they tend to give in because they are said to be “selfless and giving”. Here is where the perplexity from both being a Christian and being a teenager, intertwines, hence, leaving a Christian teenager into what seems to be an abyss of uncertainty.

It is time for a Christian like me to pull out words of wisdom from the bible. I quote 1 Corinthian 15:33 “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”” This verse alone tells us that being Christian teenagers, amidst the peer-pressure (and all the other pressures we face), we need to stand strong and not let our ways be questioned, our faith be shaken. Yes, it is true that we Christians are selfless and giving, but it is also true that we are wise and we are to shun the wicked ways of the world to follow the footsteps of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

In times when all these pressures, difficulties, and uncertainty seems to overwhelm us, remember that for when you are weak, you are strong (2 Corinthians 12:10). Jesus was also persecuted, and if to follow Him means persecution from our fears, so be it. We know and we have faith that there is something greater that the Lord has planned for us, one that our minds will not yet be able to comprehend. Just have faith and be strong. “I can do everything through Him (Christ) who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)
