- Ask your local church to throw a harvest party, let the kids dress up as little angels, shepherds, vegetables, and these types of costumes. Celebrate the harvest season that night instead as a Christian group.
- Decorate your home with harvest decorations like cornstalk, and cornopia.
- The pumpkin is a wonderful seasonal vegetable, and is quite nice for pie along with other recipes. Continue to use the pumpkin, and instead of just throwing out the shell, you can still carve to give glory to God. The pumpkin looks so beautiful all lit up like a candle.
- We have the freedom of rights in regards to our religion. You can tell the school, the day they throw the secular Halloween party, that you will be keeping your child home that day. Make that day special at home instead. Get creative with your harvest ideas and creativity to let the child enjoy the experience at home.
- If your children are old enough you can bake cookies shaped like harvest vegetables, and let them decorate them. You can do this with cakes too.
- Ask your fellow Christian peers to join in on the fun and activities by sharing your ideas with one another, and spending the time together.
- Many websites offer print out harvest activities to do. Just print them on recycled paper. They offer color harvest print outs and many crafts to do.
- Teach your children the value of the harvest season, by taking them for walks or local farms. Many scriptures teach about harvest, and how valuable harvest season is to God and Man.
- Enjoy a movie night in or ask your church to have a movie night. Christian videos stores are in most communities that I know of. Choose movies based on giving thanks.
- Try throwing a family and church related picnic. Harvest is a wonderful time to still be outdoors enjoying the fresh air, the view, and of course the company. Ask everyone to contribute to the picnic by bringing a local dish with a harvest type of theme.
For the creative soul, you could probably come up with a variety of other things to do with the Church, family and friends. Turn your lights off this Halloween season, and make the most of the bountiful beauty of harvest. Take pictures of the event or events that you plan. You can always journal the experience of changing the secular holiday into something that represents something for God.
Enjoy this coming harvest season!

Giving out tracts with candy in Trick-or-Treat night is a great way to expose kids and adults alike to the Gospel on this night, too. I like some fun, nique ones like found at http://www.livingwaters.com.
hmm let me read about that,
