There are four congregations of Church of Christ in The Gambia, West Africa, which is 94% Muslim. Christians and Muslims get along well together there and when there are religious celebrations they all join in. The Gambia is a beautiful, peaceful country but a poor one. The Church too is poor there. There are many who attend the church who have nothing to give or only a few small coins. The wealthier churches of the UK would be shocked if they only had a Sunday Offering of around £44 (2,260 Dalasis in Gambian currency). Yet the church which started with 12 people who met on a patch of ground is now a building with a growing congregation in a deprived area.
THIS IS THE AREA SURROUNDING THE CHURCH

The roads are sandy and finding the church in a maze of roads like this where streets have no names is not easy without one of the church members to guide you there. The homes off these streets are poor quality housing and shacks.

The church works hard to keep its school, Living Children’s Academy, going in an equally very deprived area. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a church doing all it can to help the needy, to visit the sick, and to educate the less fortunate in the school, but it really needs the financial support of better off churches across the world. The church leaders share one car, an old VW Golf, to drive around in to do the work they do there. Two of them teach in World Bible School too, offering correspondence courses and also teaching on Comparative Religions. There is much going on there.
IF YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN OR A CHURCH READING THIS, PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING THE CHURCH OR THEIR SCHOOL. THANK YOU.

They are doing good work.
