EWTN has one of my favorite programs called “Life on the Rock”. One will see many stories of inspiration on this network on this particular program at 8:00PM on Thursday nights. One such humble lady on saw was Mother Elvira Petrozzi.

She is the foundress of Community Cenacolo founded in Italy in 1983. The community fights through prayer, sacrifice, love and hard-work the battle of alcoholism and drugs induced in our secular society everyday.
Young men and women come here to serve in this community working through their dependence of alcohol and drug addiction.

Considered not a therapeutic program but a “School of Life” experience. The young men and women of community learn a simple life of prayer, sacrifice, renunciation, faith & work.
Most of people thirst for love but many of us look for a true & authentic love based on God and not man.

The use the Eucharist which is at the heart of community life is Christ centered. They have a daily active rhythm of thanking God everyday for new life, read scripture, pray the Rosary & go before the Blessed Sacrament (Holy Hour).

The main request is that these young people ask Jesus for healing. Their joy’s and gratitude learned do not depend on the have and have nots of life. The material goods everyone takes for granted everyday. They learn to trust in God’s love and mercy.
I wrote this basically because I admire this women and also as a final healing for myself in my journey in life,
The daughter of an alchoholic whom I loved dearly who was beaten down by (I’m not making excuses for him just a personal thought eventually learned.) life’s disappointments and eventually as I got older through grace stopped drinking and found peace and tranquility for himself and for and through God I think.
