Confusion: Get Rid of It

Going to a friend’s house for a visit I discovered the mother had one surname, her unmarried daughter another, a son with another, and another child with still another. Though that was around four decades ago, I remember leaving that house with this thought on my mind, “What confusion!”

I was only around twenty then, and I had just surrendered my life to Christ January 1970. Before that time my life was somewhat in shambles and my learning simply crashed in most areas. I did not know that some had children before marriage, then got married and had more children, got divorced, remarried and had more children, and so on.

As I studied the Holy Bible I learned that man*, having a sinful nature, committed various sins, and if left unchecked always created confusion in an individual’s life. Eventually I saw the confusion in the lives of drunkards, liars, thieves, addicts, and others.

In the the 1950s it was understood that a married man was the head of the household (a Biblical principle found in Ephesians 5:23 and other passages). Today the world says it is who “makes the most money,” and the male turns out to be a joker while the wife or a politically liberal-minded younger individual is the king of the family. We can thank in part the loose-minded liberal media and the morally infectious sitcoms in previous decades for the decay of the way a family should be structured.

Ever since prayer was removed from the classrooms, society has been fast-forwarding to utter decay. Just a week ago I heard about a boy who wanted to join the Girl Scouts, and apparently a local branch of the Scouts where that boy lives thinks that is acceptable.

Marriage is only for one man to join with one woman. Yet, even foolishly ignoring nature itself, today men “marry” men, women “marry” women, and just because someone has a hormone imbalance they think they are the wrong gender and seek a sex change, sometimes with our tax dollars here in the United States.

As it is written in Daniel 9:8, “O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.”

Well, enough of the negative. If you find yourself wrestling with the effects of sin I encourage you to take the Cure (John 3:14). Jesus Christ, Who was tempted in all points (Hebrews 4:15) successfully completed His mission. That mission was to live the perfect life that we need to live (Hebrews 5:8), remain sinless (Hebrews 9:14), but take our sins upon Himself (2 Corinthians 5:21) so that He might take the punishment for our transgressions and thus redeem us.

We have to surrender (Romans 10:9-10) to that finished work and act upon it (Philippians 2:12). In so doing, we become the true children of God (John 1:12) and develop the fruit of the Holy Spirit (John 15:1-8, Galatians 5:22-23). We take on the divine moral nature of God (2 Peter 1:4).

Like Abraham, we become a friend of God through Christ (1 John 1:3) Who daily speaks to us. We develop a love relationship with God (John 14:23) which far surpasses any religion you can find out there, including nominal Christianity. There is nothing at all like entering into worship and enjoying the glorious presence of God.

As we grow in Christ our natural confusion is diminished and eventually eradicated as we continue to walk in His precious light and love. If we sin, we have an advocate, provided we sincerely confess our sins (1 John 1:5 – 2:2). Instead of marching to the death beat of the world, we flow with the life giving move of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14).

We are given a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7), one that is orderly because we permit it to be ordered by God through His Holy Spirit. As a result, our own personal life becomes well ordered.

Though our outward man decay, our inward man is renewed (2 Corinthians 4:16), and we move from glory to glory (2 Corinthians 3:18) until one day we graduate from this world.

If one is blessed enough to attend a real Church, one that has denied the trappings of the world whether it be in the form of worldly titles (Dr., Ms., etc.), manners (like acting as a business), or any other compromise, and operates based upon the Word of God and directed by the Holy Spirit, then they will join others with a sense of godly orderliness and a wholesome reverence for God.

Peace increases when one yields to God through Christ (Hebrews 12:11), permitting themselves and their household to be shaped by the Holy Spirit according to the blueprint of the Holy Word of God.

I’m not saying you will not have any problems. But what I do say is that your life will be much better as you yield to God and His loving wonderful ways. Rid yourself of confusion and embrace a life of loving direction through Christ, the Son of the Living God.

My belief is that living as a christian is the best way to live, and that God rewards righteous living by eliminating confusion in that persons life. Sure Christians can still be confused, but living right just seems more orderly.

So true. Our lives are not perfect. In the Christian school where I taught, the school directory was still a tangled web of family names with two addresses for many of the children. Is it any wonder that children have so many problems? Families do not fare well when put through blenders.

Thanks for sharing this. Too many people believe that in accepting God’s grace they must forget His rules. What ruler does not have rules to live by? They want Him to be their Savior but not their Lord.

If we ignore God’s guidance, we will be confused.
