Covenant of Security
Text: Hosea 2:18 – In that day, I will also make a covenant for them with the beast of the field, the birds of the sky and the creeping things of the ground and I will abolish bow, the sword and war from the land. And will make them lie down in safety (New American Standard Bible).
Have you ever imagined how Adam was relating with lions, snakes, gorillas, etc? Again how Noah stayed in the Ark with these animals? Can you sense the kind of security they enjoyed before sin took over (Genesis 2:17 and 7:13–15). The intent of God in this covenant is that the animals will fulfil the original purpose of their creation by becoming subject to man, when man fulfils the original purpose of being subject to God. They will not hurt, but protect them (Job 5:23). Have you ever enjoyed such security? Why have you not? See Gen 3:15-19, 23, and 24. Sin breaks the hedge God made around us (Job 1:10). Are you living in sin? Then know you have broken your hedge and you will bear the consequence, (Ecclesiastics 10:8) but with a believer it is not so. God is saying He will make a covenant of security for you with all other creature. This covenant of security started with the death of Christ for us. Though things may happen to us, God knows why and not all are consequences of sin. Beloved “carry go,” God has guaranteed your security (Deuteronomy 33:27 and 28). You shall not be afraid of what man can do.
