Devotion for January 11, 2012

Our God is ever thoughtful of us. Even in the current economic stress which has created a lot of anxiety among people including believers God is still caring for as many as have lost hope. Though many have lost a lot in their investment and the necessities of life, food, clothing, shelter, etc, are no longer at the reach of the ordinary man yet God has never let the righteous beg food.

He Provides

Text: Matthew 6:30 – God clothes the grasses in the field, which is alive today but tomorrow is thrown into fire. Therefore, you can be even more sure that God will clothe you. Do not have so little faith (NCV).

In today’s text, we can see how thoughtful our God is. The current economic stress has created a lot of anxiety among people including believers. Many have lost a lot in their investment. The necessities of life, food, clothing, and shelter are no longer at the reach of the ordinary man. The need to acquire them has led many into all kind of vices. Most people today who demand for ‘appreciation’ for even doing the job their employer pays them at the end of the month, do so to have ‘ends meet’. People who do so are ignorant of what God can do for them. This has led many to go against the will of God.

God saw the foolishness of Adam when he used fig leaves to make covering (Genesis 3: 7) and made covering with animal skin for them (Genesis 3:21). Did Adam request for it? No, but God knew they need it and that the fig leaf will soon dry and tear away. He provides for us even when we do not ask how much more when we ask him. He is magnanimous towards us despite our weaknesses. He will provide all you need. You may not have food for the day. Trust him. Am quite sure He will provide for He has never failed me. He cannot fail you too.

FFT: Did God ever fail the people in the Bible?

Prayer Points:

1) Thank Jehovah Jireh for this promise.

2) Ask for the necessities of life.

3) Ask God to remove the spirit of fear and anxiety in you.

4) Bind the spirit of doubt.
