Encouragement

We are experiencing wonderful warm days in the northeastern part of the United States since the devastation that occurred in Japan and it is to the glory of God.

God will have compassion on whom he will have compassion and mercy upon whom he will have mercy.  No matter what we think, he will do things which will confound the wise.

I cam remember years ago when I witnessed someone who, in my humanness, I felt should not have been blessed, because of the horrible things he had done.  I asked God why he had blessed this man and reminded him of what the man had done.  But God let me know that he had made the decision to bless the man and give him grace.  I had no right to judge.

It was then that I learned who God was and that he means what he says.  I could not understand God’s decision at the time, because I was not spiritually mature.  I still have areas where I need to grow, but I have come to understand that God, that is sovereign and is in control.

After this incident, I have witnessed God rescue other people, and myself, from situations that could have devastated them if he had not intervened.  This has given me faith, hope, and a reverence for him.  We serve such a wonderful God who never ceases to amaze me.

This Week’s Thought: A Prayer for Japan »

When life seems hopeless, God makes a way,

We wake up and see a brighter day.

For God can do more than what we ask,

He can perform any cumbersome, difficult task.

He can turn the evil hearts of men toward him,

When chances of converting them, seem so slim.

He commands the waters to rise on high,

And southward he tells the birds to fly.

He can make the failure a complete success,

In areas where he normally would digress.

He will give us what we do not deserve,

And make sure the unsaved soul will observe,

That his love is far and deep and wide,

And from him no man can ever hide.

He will save the poor from the unjust man,

And quickly thwart his crafty plan.

He will turn our mourning into gladness,

And rescue us from episodes of great madness.

No one can ever thoroughly understand

The decisiveness of his loving hand.
