It seems that a lot of us are like wheel-barrows – no use unless pushed. Some of us are like kites -if you don’t keep a string on us, we fly away. Some of us are kittens – most contented when petted. Some of us are like baloons – full of our own importance and ready to blow up! Some of us, fortunately, are like a good watch – open faced, pure gold, quietly busy and full of good works.
An English writer tells of a blind man who always carried a lantern. People wanted to know what use the lantern could be to his sightless eyes. “I do not carry it to prevent my stumbling over others,” he replied, “but to keep them from stumbling over me.” ….Let your light so shine that somebody else will not stumble because of you!
The measure of a man’s real character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out. So live that you wouldn’t be ashamed to sell the family parrot to the town gossip!
