Feeling Good About Yourself

How we can maintain a positive self image.

Why do we feel bad about ourselves?  We do not always have to feel good about ourselves and sometimes our gnawing conscience can correct bad behavior.  Never feel good about being a jerk or doing something you should not be doing.  We sometimes rationalize our bad behavior and find an excuse for it.  We also sometimes feel bad about ourselves for no good reason at all.

We can feel unworthy, unrespected, and not even want to live.  These feelings can sink us into depression.  This can become a cycle of self depreciating decay.  Feeling good about ourselves is an art that some of us have to really work at.  We have to convince ourselves that we have something positive to contribute to those around us.  We have to remind ourselves that we have a voice that can be heard and appreciated by others.  Sometimes our outward appearance screams at us that we are no good and ugly and not really of any usefulness to anyone.  We forget that our looks are not who we are.  We forget we are what is on the inside of us.  Our self worth should not be based on our jobs our looks or our productivity.  God does not make junk an the fact that we are breathing is proof of our self worth.  None of us are an accident in the eyes of God.

He loves us as the creatures He made in His image.  He cares for you and me.  We should care for ourselves just a little of how He much cares for us.  Life is worth the living even in its most difficult of stages.  You may not want to live today, but tomorrow is another day and you can change this struggle in your life.  Remind yourself daily that you are loved.  You are important.  What you say and do, matters.  If not to anyone around you then to your Creator.  Never base your happiness on your circumstances or how others feel about you.  People are fickle and can be mean, ugly and sinful.  What you must believe and know is that you matter.  God is there and He knows your heart.  Pour out your heart to Him and He can understand and help as no other.  This message is for you.  This article was meant for your eyes.  What you do with it is up to you.
