Finding Real Purpose (Short Version)

No one would like to live until their eighties or nineties or until the last year of their lives and… discover that they have not lived according to the REAL purpose of their lives. To avoid that heart breaking moment… here are some guidelines that I suggest and that everyone can consider:

(By the way, this is the shorter version of my original article "Finding Real Purpose", I just made this one because I know that not all of us have the luxury of time for reading long articles. Of course, I prefer you read the longer version. However, I still hope that you would enjoy reading this one.)

1.      No one knows the purpose of an invention except its inventor. (And unless the inventor reveals it.)

If I had seen an abacus for the very first time and had not heard about it yet, I would not know what it is really for. Actually, when I first heard that an abacus is for calculations / arithmetic functions, my first reaction was “Really!? Are you sure? This thing can count?” yeah… whether we agree or not, that’s the real purpose of an abacus…says who? The inventor of course…he just revealed the purpose for his invention to many people that’s why everybody now knows that an abacus is for calculations.

No one knows the purpose of our lives except our Creator, GOD.

2.      You cannot just invent or guess the purpose of an invention. Why? Because you might destroy it!

Going back to my example, if I have an abacus and do not know what it is for, I will probably use it as a toy for little kids or a tambourine. And that could be the cause for the beads to fall out from the abacus… in short I may break it. (And how sad it is for a thing to be destroyed without being used as what it is really intended for.)

We can’t use a refrigerator as an aircon or use a ballpen in writing on whiteboard. And can you imagine if you use a watercolor brush in painting your whole house? If you use a thing NOT according to what it is really for, you might destroy it.

We cannot just invent or guess the purpose of our lives. Why? Because it will lead us to destruction!

3.      Read the manual that the inventor gave to know the real purpose of what he invented; and how it works. Or ask someone who had read the manual and came to know the inventor’s purpose for the invention.

Even if I know that an abacus is for calculation, Come on! I will still NOT be able to use it for its purpose because I need something or someone to tell me how it works.

Read the Holy Bible (the manual of our lives) that God had given to reveal His real purpose for our lives.

4.      The invention must be used for its real purpose. According to what the inventor intended it for.

An invention is just USELESS no matter how beautiful and lasting existence it can be if it was not used for the purpose that its inventor created it for.

We must know God’s purpose for our lives and live according to it.

To God be the glory.
