Four Prayers to Activate God’s Blessings

      The bible keeps the record of great blessings of God upon His people. He promises to deliver in time of trouble. According to Him: “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee and thou shall glorify me”. Psalms 50:15. He promises to be with His children even when they pass through water and fire (Isaiah 43:2). He promises to turn our dry land into pool of water and to make our wilderness standing water. However, all these promises will not come to pass unless they are activated.

     Israel summoned his children to bless them. Judah, the fourth son was blessed ahead of his brethren. Reuben, the first born was disqualified because he slept with Bilhah, the concubine of Jacob (Genesis 35:22). Simeon and Levi also were disqualified because of anger (Genesis 49:7). However, the blessings of Israel upon Judah remained there, dormant until they were activated by Moses in Deuteronomy. 33:7. A nation can be blessed with abundance of mineral resources and still be poor. That is why the blessings of God upon your life must be activated today. The prayers are:

1.     Father, hear my voice:

Moses said: “Hear, Lord, the voice of Judah…” (Deuteronomy 33:7). For a man’s blessing to be activated, the most important thing is the hearing of his voice. Our relationship with God is likened to that of a man who refuses to pick his call on his cell phone and his caller becomes frustrated. If God refuses to hear us, we are gone. After transfiguration, a voice from heaven endorsed Christ by saying: ”…This is my beloved son: hear him”. (Mark 9:7). This means that the effectiveness of Christ’s ministry on earth was as a result of the hearing of His voice. Beside the tomb of Lazarus He said: “Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me…” John 11:41. If the voice of a man is heard by God, men are under compulsion to listen to him. Begin now to call God, “Father, hear my voice”.

2. Father, bring me unto my people:

The second step to the activation of God’s promises upon a man’s life is for the man to be brought to his people. Moses asked God: “…and bring him to his people…” (Deuteronomy 33:7). The woman at Shunem said to Elisha: “… I dwell among mine own people. “(II Kings 4:13). When a man dwells among his people, his mistakes and sins are covered. When a man is brought to his people his weaknesses are neglected and his nakedness covered. Instead of being condemned, he is celebrated. Long speech is not required to receive favour. He no longer lives in fear. This goes beyond ethnic sentiment and family ties, it is about being found in the midst of people that share your dreams and aspirations. Being with people that appreciate you and your visions. Speak to God now and say: “Bring me to my people, Lord”.

3. Father, let my hand be sufficient for me:

Moses asked God to make the hands of Judah to be sufficient for him. The widow at zarephath had already given up before her encounter with Elijah, her lack was put to an end and her hands were made sufficient for her (I Kings 17:4). The widow’s children were nearly taken away by her creditors because of poverty. Her encounter with Elisha cleared her debt and she had enough for her and her children (II Kings 4: 1-7). Jabez also had the same challenge. He cried and his hands were made sufficient for him by God (I Chronicles 4: 9-10). If this prayer is heard by God, it activates the blessing of God  in Deuteronomy 28:12. We will lend to Nations and will not borrow. Heaven should always be opened for us if our hands are made sufficient for us. Tell God now: “Father, may my hand be sufficient for me”.

4. Father, defend me against my enemies:

Moses asked God: “… and be thou an help to him from his enemies”. (Deuteronomy 33:7). For the promises of God upon a man’s life to be activated and established, defence against his enemies is necessary. The psalmist said: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”. (Psalms 46:1). He promised to contend with those that contend with us (Isaiah 49:25). He said to Hezekiah: “I will defend this city to save it …” (II Kings 19:33). His words to the Israelites in Egypt were: “… I will redeem you with a stretched out arm and with great judgement”. (Exedus 6:6). Tell God now: “Arise Lord and defend me against Spiritual and physical enemies”.
