Verse: 1 John 3:18 ”Let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth.”
Sing a couple songs: Jesus Loves Me, This is My Commandment
Verse Memorization: Display the verse on a chalkboard, white-out board or power point. Read the verse aloud. Break the verse up into parts and have the children repeat after you.
Break the verse like this: 1 John 3:18 – Let us not love – with words or tongue- but with actions – and in truth – 1 John 3:18. Repeat the verse several times. Allowing the kids to yell it out can make it fun. You can also rotate saying the parts between the teacher and children.
Sing another song: Jesus Loves the Little Children, His Banner Over Me is Love
Play a Game: Here is a list of Games, choose one that best fits your size group.
Lesson outline: Read the verse again. Discuss it with the class. Here are some general points to talk about:
Words don’t mean anything if you do not treat people with love.
You can say you love your parents but when you disobey and talk back, those actions do not show love.
How do you show you love others?
How did Jesus show he loved you? (Died on the cross to save you.)
Do you want to know Jesus love and be saved?
Salvation prayer: Dear God, I know that I am a sinner because I have done some wrong things. Please forgive me. I believe Jesus is Your Son; He died on the Cross to save me and You raised Him from the dead three days later to live with You. Please become the God of my life; lead me to make good choices and tell others about Jesus. In Jesus name I ask. Amen
