Who is God? What is it like? Does God exist? Or our trust in God makes it alive? We all have our different definition of God. We have understood God with our unique experiences. People belonging to different religion have different path to reach God. For some they believe that God is in idols. God is like a statue that exists outside them to fulfill all their wishes. While for some population who are on the path of self realization have a belief that God lies within them. God exists within them or in their highest expression of ‘self’. They find God in their existence. People who believe in themselves do not follow any stringent religious belief as they find answers by being true to themselves.
As we grow older we become rich in experience of knowing one self. For those who have found their identity with some group feel accepted or find ‘self love’ by merely belonging to a group. For instance, we see people living in a joint family speaking one language; similarly people belonging to one’s religion speak same language as per their holy book. Like some fix ideas within their psyche, they follow religious rituals in a much disciplined manner. Their identity lies in being accepted by the group. Probably due to this surrender of individuals to its clan, societies were formed. Such an expression teaches us unity and celebration of life by looking in others inner self.
The essence of reading epics or religious books is to inculcate values discovered from them. The knowledge acquired from these does answer many questions; one of this could be like Does god exists? The irony for the religious reader is accepting all the information unconditionally. The reader belonging to its respective religion absorbs the information without giving it a thought or experiencing as a discovery. It is expected as a law to accept what is written and follow as a religious belief. The freedom of having a quest to discover God is somewhere lost in this process. It is like someone has got formula of math and all a soul has to do is merely apply it. In case one differs to follow then a sense of guilt is introduced in form of a superstition. The self belief is disturbed. Their trust in god then becomes positively correlated in performing rituals as a compulsion rather than experiencing joy in its performance.
People who have qualities of being fearless, challenging one’s own thought, following a disciplined life that may not be just limited to follow religious belief or rituals; but to live a life of moral conduct too. They are the ones’ who can bring about a shift from the group self to an individual self. This shift in one’s psyche matures an individual to experience joy while relating within group and within self as well. By realizing a relation within the self they build trust in themselves hence they can now illuminate their spiritual light- “The ultimate force of existence known as love.” This spiritual light is observed to be reflected by god who is realized within the self. Many authentic spiritual leaders can share their experience of self realization or of self discovery of this light within their self. As they have found out the answer to the question does god exist?
God does exist; this is a matter of personal religion and belief, because we are always confused between God and science.
