Gods’ Mercy and Grace is Not a License to Sin

Mercy and Grace.

We all know that the Mercy of God is an attribute of His Goodness.  How? Because, Romans 6:23, states “the wages of Sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life”, which means because of our sin, even in today’s time, we deserve death, but because of the Goodness of our Heavenly Father, He gives up a new portion of the Mercy everyday through Christ Jesus.  Then we find the Grace of God is an attribute of Gods’ Kindness.  His Grace gives us what we don’t deserve.  What a Gift!  Just because Gods’ Mercy WITHHOLDS what we deserve and His Grace gives us what WE DO NOT Deserve!     Both of these are gifts from our Heavenly Father to make us better servants for the Kingdom of God and not a license to Sin or be disobedient.   Even though 1 John 1:9 declares, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness”, that doesn’t mean that we can do any and every thing (especially the pre-mediated) we want to do in contrary to Gods’ Word; and then run to Him and try to call Him at His word.  Yes, He did say in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”, but He also said, in John 14:15, “if you love me, you will keep my commandments”!  We can’t use the Word of God to fit our disobedience; we must turn from our disobedience to fit the Word of God.  So as children of God, be careful when you call God at His Word, because He will call you at your confession in Christ Jesus!

Your birthday is coming up and your license is going to expire.  So you make a note and a conscious effort to remember to get them renewed.  Your birthday passed and with all the excitement, you have not given a second thought that your license expired.  You got all types of monetary gifts for your birthday, and you are going to make a deposit and go on a shopping spree.  As you approach the register to check out, excited about all you are buying.  You now have the tally of all you have purchased, items’ bagged and you write the check.  As you hand the cashier your license, she states, “sorry we can’t accept your check”.  You immediately take the offense and ask why?  Because you know the funds are there.  She states, that your license has expired and they can no longer accept a check without a valid drivers license.  What a drag!  Procrastination is a hard pill to swallow.   Now think about the Mercy and Grace of God.  In some point of your life, have you treated it as though it’s a license to do what you want to do and when you want to do it?  We can’t just continue to do our thing and quote 1 John 1:9, you will get the Throne of God and He talk back.  Yes, He is God of not just a second chance but many chances.  Just as though your bags were left at the register because of procrastination, Gods’ renewal and restoration process in our lives can be devastating. He promises to never leave us or forsake us, but at times, it sure can feel as though we are all along and God is hiding in a distance.  So as we ponder the Mercy and Grace of Love, just also ponder His Goodness and Kindness and a better effort to show Him how much we Love Him and keep His commandments.

Spiritually submitted,

KD Johnson

This gives you a note to remind you to check daily your expiration date of your faith and, also remind yourself of the Grace of God. Makes you truly think on a daily level of your faults and glories.

A hard reality for those who don’t understand the gentle but faithful lord and yet we are the unfaithful and he takes us back. This is a God that is the only and one creator of my soul and hence worship is only his in return. An article that makes people think about the day at hand.
