I can’t tell you what you are supposed to be doing as far as a career. I can’t tell you what big business you will run and how many employees you will have.  I simply know that it doesn’t matter. The only thing the bible says is work hard and earn a good day’s wages. Show me in the bible where it tells you to do what you love to do, or make money following your dream. Those are man-made ideas and dreams. What is the American Dream? Think about it, is that God telling you to be really successful in the market place or is that you talking? I have never read anything in the bible about being successful in the market place. I have never read anything about us being created to, or able to, or commanded to do that thing that we are better then 98% of people at. Honestly, the entire attitude of the bible as far as it is with work states IT DOESN’T MATTER. It doesn’t matter what you are doing, it matters what you are not doing. Look at your life and ask yourself; how much fruit is on your tree.  When was the last time you brought someone to church?  When was the last time you helped someone get saved? Understand, I think people have the potential to be great in all walks of life, and you could do a hundred things that help other people to be great people, but at the end of the day, does being a great person get you into heaven? James says “faith without works is dead faith.” You aren’t designed to help people know themselves; help people be successful; or help people understand how to deal with stress. You weren’t created for any of that.  If you are good at that, fantastic, but how many people have come to know Christ that way? The Buddiest faith is a bunch of the nicest and most enjoyable people I know. They believe in good works and being the best they can be so they are always trying to be nice and help you in any way. But, unless they believe in Jesus and understand that he died for them so that they could see the father “no one gets to the father but through me,” then they are still spending eternity in hell. So, to answer your question as to what you’re called to do or suppose to do in the workplace… IT DOESN”T MATTER.  But you are called to witness to people; you are called to serve in his kingdom, whether it be the church or organizations like Mel Trotter.  Service for and to the kingdom has been assigned to you. In the Great Commission, Jesus tells the disciples very clearly what they and everyone who follows, is suppose to do. If you believe in the bible than you will understand it isn’t just applicable to a few but to every single creature created in the image of God.  That for reference would be the entire human race, every person on the planet.  What does Jesus say in this speech to the disciples and the other hundred people there?  He tells them to go out into all four corners of the world and preach the gospel and live and speak in his name.  What does that mean?  Very simple, you are not destined for anything in this world except to serve Christ; to witness and work in his kingdom. You can help people to be good human beings all day long but unless you are helping them to find that relationship with Christ, then you are not doing what you have been called and created to do. You are not living up to your end of the bargain.  Jesus said, “All who believe in me will have everlasting life” but he also said “anyone who believes in me will be like minded.”  What did Jesus do?  He went to work everyday as a carpenter but than, after work, he went home to read his bible, pray, and witness for the Kingdom of his father. If you were created in the image of God, than you were created to do all this as well.  Paul says in 1st Corinthians, that everyone has the ability to do all that Jesus did and more. Think about that, Jesus did some incredible miracles and preached to thousands of people, but he was only the beginning. The twelve disciples spent the next 50 years doing all that he did and more. And from them, we have a faith founded and found all over the globe. Christianity can be found in every single nation on planet earth.  So, what do I think you are called to do?  Serve in the kingdom.  If you don’t know how to serve, just start by getting involved. Don’t get involved to find yourself but get involved so others can find Christ.  Understand that upon your involvement, no matter what you choose to do; you will be putting yourself in the presence of God on a regular basis. You can’t hear the sign now, what better way to hear God than to put yourself in his house a few more days a week. That is just my thoughts, I hope that was helpful.
