Greater Works Than These

Christ not only worked miracles himself, but gave power to others to do so too.

Jesus said, ” Verily, Verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (St. John 14:12) This means that Christ not only worked miracles himself, but gave power to others to do so too. Did Christ heal the sick, cleanse the leper, raise the dead? His disciple Peter did (Acts 10:36-43) and so should we. We should work great miracles. No miracle is little, but some seem greater than others.

The success that we should have in our prayers is seen in what Jesus said, “If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” (St. John 14:14) If Jesus said “that he can do greater works than these because I go unto my Father”, he means just that. He’s with his father now. So we ought to do greater works.

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. (Mark 16:15, 16, 17, 18, 19)

God is still working miracles today, and people still receive spiritual gifts. Paul spoke of spiritual gifts. But people don’t believe in the impossible so they don’t get very far. With God all things are possible. Some people can confess this with the mouth but some really don’t believe. If Moses thought like man today, he would have failed in using God’s power to open the red sea. I believe in the living God. Some people don’t believe that he is alive. I believe in his miracles and his power.

He showed me a miracle through the death of my mother. Her heart stopped and she stopped breathing. But God brought her back to life as I laid my hands upon her to pray. It was just a little while, but it was a miracle of God. Right there, the dead was brought back for me to see that it can be done. I believe in God and his miracles.

Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? (John 10:34) This is found also in (Ps.82:6). I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

I thought your article was really interesting. I believe that God does grant miracles too. Prayer really does change things. You just have to believe.

That’s right. When we truly start believing, that’s when we see God’s work and power. Daniel prayed 3 times a day. The lions in the den did not bother him. The 3 Hebrew boys walked out of the fiery furnace unharmed. God will do the same for us.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I pray every single day because I really do believe that God hears us and helps us whenever possible.

Other Sheep I have , that is not of this fold, judge not that you be not judged for with the same judgement you wil be Judged. For in him ther is no greek nor jew, Religioius Sterotyping is only propaganda, the Woman at the well was the example Jesus ued to deal wiht any form of bogotry. When the focus is on God we see God in all people places and things. We are all the same in reality, the allusions of differences is to be cast away regadrless of the methods used to sedcue us.

That’s right Evelyn. All the people that is serving God and is on his side, God will accept. We are all God’s people. He made us all.

    Wow!
You sure said it well this time! I think of all that I have read that you’ve penned this is the Tops! I heard an interesting account from a missionary from Africa, that even children who have become Christian are taking these very words you have brought back for all to remember and are turning entire villages upside down with the power God is giving them, simply because they believe without a hint of doubt. How this old world would change if every Christian claimed that Power!

    Catelin,
Thank you so much for sharing that with me. I’m glad to hear that. It brings me great joy to know that other countries believe in Christ that way.

Great article. Not sure if that’s the correct way of the use of the scripture: Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? (John 10:34) This is found also in (Ps.82:6). I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. It could be misconstrued to mean:’I am a god – I can do, create have anything’.

It really means the’rulers and judges and deputies of the most high God.

    remember: Deuteronomy 32:21
They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols.

    Rom 9:15-16
    15For he says to Moses,
“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.16It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.

Hi, Sharon and thanks. God can use you to be a ruler. Don’t forget. You are a child of the most high God if you are on his side and serving him. Look at King David. He was just a shepard boy and God used him. Think further. God uses ordinary people like you and I. If we use his power, we are a little God under him.

I meant to use a lower case G in the last sentence.
