Don’t destroy yourself with getting drunk, but let the Spirit fill your life. Ephesians 5:18

A male friend woke up on the grass beside the swimming pool, food bits from his own vomit, sticking to his body. A female friend confessed her admiration for someone then later apologized in embarrassment because she drank too much. Both situations: hilarious.

A male relative dies from liver failure, leaving a young wife and their infant son. A female friend grows up always fearful of what her unusually drunk father would say or do to her and other family member. Both situations: tragic.

Alcohol comes in different flavors and “strengths.” just like red wine in the time of Jesus, it accompanies many gatherings. But unlike red wine, most liquor ruin our health. Whether you are younger or older than 18 years old, you expose yourself to liquor’s harmful effect on the brain and internal organs.

Triond Sunday School Lesson 11: Country, City, or State »

When much alcohol enters the blood and the liver can’t fight it anymore, the mind and the body slow down, bringing bad possibilities. When the Holy spirit flows in your life, when you don’t fight Him anymore and instead yield to God’s will, your mind and body are renewed. A free and fulfilled life becomes a great possibility. People who get drunk usually sing off-key. But those who are filled with the Holy spirit sing songs for the King with all their hearts, on or off-key.

Which will you drink? The liver wrecker or the Living Water? On the rocks,  or from the rock? True hefty horror vs. the real happy hour? The Spirit says, ‘Drink all you can.”
