He Lives in us
Text: 2 Corinthians 6: 16 – And what union can be there between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God, as God said, “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God and they will be my people (New Living Translations).
This text is a confirmation of what God said in Ezekiel 36: 27. If anyone repents, he automatically becomes a new creature (2 Corinthians 5: 17) and by the reason of the new covenant, God begins to dwell in that persons heart (John 14: 23 compare Ephesians 3: 17). For this singular reason that God dwells in the heart of the believer, everyone who becomes born again must be careful not to compromise his or her faith, thereby grieving the Holy Spirit of God (Ephesians 4: 30).
The promise that God will dwell in us and walk among us is not outdated. It is still in vogue. Adam Clarke speaking about God says, “I (God) will be to them all that an infinite, eternal, and self-sufficient being can be to his intelligent offspring.” This is what our God is to us. He is our all sufficiency.
Many people feel that God is far away especially when they face problems. Beloved, it is not so. He is not only near us but also in us. Our lives are hidden in Christ and Christ in God (Colossians 3: 3). When God is in you, you do not have to worry yourself about protection, survival or overcoming difficulties and challenges. He is there with you. You may not see Him (Exodus 33: 20), but we feel His presence, touch and whispers. Trust Him and make your heart conducive for Him to dwell in. If He is not in your heart, open it and let Him in as He is right there knocking (Revelation 3: 20). Can you hear Him knocking?
Food for Thought: Are you a living temple of God? Is God actually living inside you?
Prayer Points:
1. Thank God, because He has condescended to live in mortals.
2. Pray as you are led using this text.
