How to Achieve Your New Year Goals

Do you have goals that you are determined to achieve before this year ends? If so here are some points you need to note as you pursue your goals;

First you need to realise that goals are dreams with a deadline which means you need to set a time of accomplishing your goals.

This will motivate you to achieve your goal before the time passes. When you have set your deadline try to stick to it because

it is easy to be tempted to move your goal to the following year. And this of course is a set back as you will spent two or more years trying

to achieve a goal you were meant to achieve in one year because in life’s pursuits you either move forward or find yourself falling backwards,

there is no middle ground.

Secondly you need to set realistic goals. As christians we tend to try faith by saying “by faith I will have this and that by such and such date”,

and this of course is good except that most of the time it will be only words from our mouth but our hearts will be doubting the reality of the goals

thus in the end we find ourselves not achieving our goals. This should not surprise us as the word of God tells us that those who doubt are like waves

of the sea and should not expect to receive anything from God in James 1;6-7.

Goals that express good desire but can not be measured and have no deadlines avoid them. Realistic goals must include:

1] An explanation of the goal- detailed list on what it will take to reach the goal.

2] All goals must be in agreement with the gospel of God.

3]Your priorities must be specific; thus knowing the most important thing that needs to be dealt with first.

4] Develop a plan to get the work done.

5] Budget how much time, money and manpower is needed.

Finally the most important ingredient to accomplish your goal is to ask for direction from God.

The word of God tells us that we should acknowledge Him in all our ways and He will direct us[ proverbs 3;6].

So whatever your goal for 2009, be it a spiritual or a material one, go on and achieve it while it is 2009.
