The following sequential steps or pattern of entering into the presence of God during prayer will help you to get answers to your prayers faster and easier.

1. Recognize God by mentioning His various names, when you are just trying to get attention from God as you are entering into his presence. You can mention or call on his names such as Elohim, Abba Father, The Most High God, The Holy and True God, Jehovah shammah, Etc. Calling on his names, will cause God to focus his attention on you more closely at this time, because you are glorifying and ministering to Him.

2. Adore, praise, thank, and worship God because of his goodness, and greatness seen in your life and others. Examples, ‘ Lord I praise, you ‘,  ‘ I worship you for you are God, beside thee there is none else ‘,  ‘ Lord, You are excellent, wonderful, marvellous ‘,  ‘ Lord, there is none like You in heaven and on earth ‘, etc.

Here you demonstrate by bowing down your head, or kneeling down, or or lifting up, your hands to Heaven, etc. You can adopt one of these modes or  a combination of two, three, or more modes, at a time, or at times you vary your mode depending on how you are moving in the Spirit.

You can also sing songs of praise and worship Him, especially worship and praise worship songs. Examples of songs to sing are: a) You are worthy to be praise, Abba Father (2x), from generation to generation, Lord You are worthy, worthy to be praise.

Just be in the Spirit and spiritual songs will just be pouring out to you to use and worship God. After singing about two to five songs or as led, stop, and begin to thank and bless him for numerous blessings.

These songs that are poured out of your heart, come by the help of the Holy Spirit, and are called inspirational songs.  Although, you can make use of already known songs and choruses of praise and worship or hymn book or song sheet.

The songs that pour out of your heart, have a more lasting impact on you and causes God to throw out His sceptre or staff of authority more easily, inviting and opening up to you fully for His access.

At this time you have taken a more definite step to draw near to God, and He in turn does same. More so, at this time, He becomes fearful in praises, glorious in holiness, and doing wonders. What you have actually done is that you have tried and turned the knob of the door into his presence and gotten his acceptance to enter.

3. Confess Your sins

At this point, confess your sins, especially known sins. Mention them if any and ask for forgiveness and repent. Confess your frailties, weaknesses, and short-comings.

If you want to gain some one’s attention, you must first of all, go to him, call his name or names – including names that will make him happy, after that you can now ask him to forgive you for any wrong or hurt you did to him.

In other words, you are trying to gain his acceptance of you before you reconcile with him. These you have done as you were trying to enter into God’s presence by first gaining his acceptance, as outlined above. Now reconcile with Him by confessing, repenting, and forsaking all sins

4. Ask for Empowerment

Solicit for grace, restoration, strength, holiness, and spiritual beauty

5. Enter into Intercession

At this time, prayer or remind God about others who need your prayers. The book of first Timothy chapter two verses one to four, point out the need to first of all pray for others. Prayer for kings, presidents, governors, ministers, pastors, evangelists, etc. pray for your nation and other nations too.

6. Ask God what you Want

At this point ask the lord what you want. For example, financial breakthrough, purity of heart, marital breakthrough, etc. Tell God one by one, all you want Him to do for you, ans believe that he has answered. Accept god’s will and submit to God’s will to be done.

Ask for anointing upon your life and  success in life and ministry. All your prayers must be directed to God in Jesus name, by saying something like this, ‘ O lord, purify my heart from malice, in Jesus name ‘.  The name of Jesus is your seal for answers to prayer. Remember to back up your prayers  with the word of promise from God’s word.

7.  Thank God for answers

Give God thanks for prayer answers. This shows faith and confidence in God in anticipation for your answers.

8. Glorify God

Give God the glory for what you have asked. Sing to him some praises for answers to prayer.

Note: In asking, making a request, or intercession, do the following:

a. Back up your request with God’s word.

Quote or read a promise by God. For example, if you are sick, quote or read Exodus chapter 15 verse 26.

b. Always pray in the Spirit, in your request or prayer.

Tell the Holy Spirit that I know not how to pray as I ought concerning this request, but I trust you to help me do. Then start praying in the Spirit, as the Spirit gives you utterance.
