Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God and the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your heart and mind by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6).
To have care or anxiety is to worry about what has not happened yet; how many people create anxiety for themselves simply by the way that they think? We all have a choice on how we think and no one can force one to think a certain way, and knowing this principle, we can have peace in troubling times. By thinking correctly as the bible says…whatsoever things are lovely, just, honest, pure, true, if there be any virtue or praise, think on “these things”, we can have peace in troubling times. Reading and meditating on the word of God brings peace, but the cares of this life (Mark 4) is one of the things that bring worry and fear about tomorrow. Have you ever worried about something that was in the future only to find out that it was not as bad as you thought when it came around? all of the feelings that was experienced cancelled peace and brought fear and anxiety. These emotions were experienced by the Disciples as they were on the ship that was going to the other side at Jesus’ command, but because the wind and waves threatened their lives, they summoned Jesus screaming Master careth thou not that we perish! their going to the hinder part of the ship and getting Jesus attention is like our praying to get his attention today, but the absence of peace will cause doubt, while faith will produce peace. He tells them like he tells us today…where is your faith? in other words they had forgotten that he said let’s go to the other side, and provision is always where God’s direction for one’s life is. One can have peace in troubling times by 1. Casting care on the Lord because he cares for us (1 Peter 5:7) 2. Pray about everything that worries you. 3. Give thanks, because giving thanks says one has the answer, when someone gives one something, they say thank you! because they received what was given, well the same principle applies when we tell the Lord thank you. 4. Let our request be made known unto God, because asking and believing brings peace. Matthew 7:7 says ask and it shall be given, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened for everyone that asks receives, and he that seeks finds, and to him that knocks it shall be opened. And the peace of God which passes all human understanding shall keep one’s heart and mind.
