One afternoon, a few weeks before Halloween, I had to go pick Hunter up from preschool. Jax was home, so I left him there with T. I went outside, went down the front porch stairs, got in the van and was on my way. While I was driving I was thinking about how close Halloween was, and wondered how we would find time to carve pumpkins, let alone find money to buy them.
We had a short vacation planned for the week of Halloween, so I knew that we really wouldn’t be around too much prior. In fact, we would get back that very Halloween evening, so I sort of figured we can’t afford them anyway, so maybe the kids wouldn’t really notice too much if we didn’t carve them this year.
But it bothered me because it was a tradition! We always carved pumpkins and made pumpkin seeds! So, I asked God to guide the next couple weeks and if He could provide the money for pumpkins, then we would do it…but if not I would be ok with it too.
Anyway, I arrived at Hunter’s preschool (mind you, it is about 4 miles away — it takes literally minutes.), picked him up and headed toward home. When I pulled into the driveway, I saw them. God had placed 4 wonderfully beautiful pumpkins up our porch stairs. The VERY stairs I had stepped down not 15 minutes ago!!
Oh God, you gave us pumpkins!! And exactly one for each of the kids!! Oh, I praise you!!
…Ask and you will receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:24b
