Insulated

Sometimes, we come to a point when we are able to resist the pressure outside.

From the devotional book, Lord, Where are You When Bad things Happen?, Kay Arthur (author) said Every difficulty (for Christians) is a test. I believe that Christianity is best displayed when face in bleak situations.

When I say poignant situation, I mean not due to the self-inflicted pain but the unprompted or unprovoked circumstances. To clearly delineate the statement, self-inflicted pains are effects of one’s actions, for instance a man who was caught taking prohibited drugs was put to prison, in prison he experienced uncomfortable life, maybe went through physical abuse among inmates. His difficult experience inside prison cell was self-inflicted. He would not suffer in the first place had it not been him taking banned stuff.

Back to the topic, what gives me the credit to write was the past week experience. I don’t wanna be lengthy of the event but it truly calls for Christian values… a scenario that place you on the verge of your old self, putting you down the pit so the world may condemn you, at the same time, the spiritual morals pull you back on track to exercise the Christian lifestyle you’ve been preaching. Ahhh…tough! Human tendency is to fight back when your rights have been trudged, when you are being perturbed from your peace. Instinct prompts you to protect self. Worldly point of view seems right. Yes, my mind screamed that way but my heart whispered me to forgive… to let go of pain and to bless the person. That whole week was of different incidents that beckoned insulation from the hurts of the world. Coming from the old self who wanted to get even when pained, the entire surrender for me was an excruciating shedding of self. And if it is the only way to win back the lost to Christ, painful as it is, it’s indeed worth it for God’s glory.

Every difficulty is a test. It is a test that either one may pass or fail. Passing may not mean not to experience it again (as long as we are in this world, it’s part of our calling) but making Jesus happy (Mt. 25:21). Failing may not mean you are doomed to destruction but a chance to prove our maturity in Christ.

Giving up your what so called RIGHTS is not an easy deal. But knowing the truth and your position in Christ helps you let go of self and let God. It’s in Christ that all these things are possible(Mt. 19:26; Mk 9:23; Mk.10:27). The insulation is not because of our ability to safeguard ourselves but because we live by faith and believe in His Word then we become more than conquerors (Rm. 8:37). It’s by surrendering ourselves that we make Jesus wins the battle.
