Some parents might give up. Some might blame God and be angry with their Creator. But this was not the case of the parents of little Timothy who had been healed, but then faced a host of problems like tuberous sclerosis and irreversible brain damage.
Once you view this video at http://www.godvine.com/Baby-Given-Little-Hope-Receives-an-Amazing-Miracle-456.html, you will see little Timothy, miraculously changed by the power of God. Looking at the closing seconds of the video you would not think the child had experienced any brain damage at all.
While in that video we see the mighty power of God we should also note that Timothy’s parents continued to pray and with great fervor. Immediately I must think of two portions of Scripture, among others.
While a primary focus of Luke 18:1-8 is for us to pray for the return of Christ, we see in verse one cause to persevere in prayer for other requests Additionally, when we read Matthew 7:7 the Greek indicates that we should not ask, seek, knock, just once or twice, but, as Charles B. Williams renders it, “Keep on asking, and the gift will be given you; keep on seeking, and you will find; keep on knocking, and the door will open to you.”
About mid-way through the video I sensed the parents’ prayers became more intense.as their son’s condition worsened. This called to my mind James 5:16, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
Satan himself often gets into the picture by magnifying symptoms and multiplying maladies. We then must set our minds on spiritual warfare, worshiping our Savior as we come against the various elements of darkness.
Our faith is exercised when we are faced with situations that are intense and increase in frequency. Often it seems like God is waiting for the “last minute,” or is going past it. Our loving trust in Him reaches a new height, and our love for Him itself is purified, even if matters do not turn out the way we would desire.
While miracles of healing still occur today, I am of the opinion that an even greater miracle occurs when a child of God accepts with meekness an outcome he did not want.
If you are walking with Christ, continue to walk with Him no matter what the outcome of your prayers is. If you have not surrendered to Christ, I invite you to do so to the end that whether it rains or shines upon you, you will shine with Him in eternity.
