A strange thing happened to my computer early in 2009: It was losing space on my hard drive at about 1 gigabyte every three days. After doing some research and analyzing space usage by various folders, I discovered something that was supposed to be good for my computer had turned into a growing problem and was eating up my hard drive.

I started checking the properties (right mouse click on a folder and select properties) of my Windows and Program Files folders, along with a work folder, to see where the unexplained growth was occurring. By comparing usage each day, my records narrowed the search down to files associated with Norton Antivirus (produced by Symantec).
Running a search on Google, I saw Symantec offered a solution to the problem, but it meant upgrading my product. Since I was not sure that I would be credited for the remaining three months left in my subscription, I decided to delete Norton and go with AVG free. Even if I would have upgraded the Norton product, no doubt I would face a price increase when it came time to renew it. I just cannot afford that right now.
This computer dilemma has a parallel in the spiritual realm. Whenever we think we do not have time to pray, worship, read the Bible and so on, that means something has eaten our time. We then need to check the “folders” of our lives to see if something that is not mandated by the Word of God is consuming our time.
Anything taking our time away from our spiritual growth and maintenance needs to be deleted and replaced with something that is God honoring and bears spiritual fruit.
If we are committed to Christ, we need to make sure our moments are filled with things that will benefit not only ourselves spiritually, but our family and society (as directed by the Holy Spirit).
By the Holy Spirit, Paul states in Ephesians 5:16 that we should be, “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” We need to be blessed by God and be a blessing to others as iniquity increases.
This does not mean we cannot have fun, but we should guard ourselves lest we begin to think that we do not have enough time to spend to sit at the feet of the Saviour of the world or follow His mandates for interaction with our family.
For those reading this that have not made Christ King in their life, please make time now to seriously consider your eternal destiny, for damnation awaits those who have not made Christ their King, but Eternal Life is granted to those who fully trust Him.

Pete excellent analogy! So many are missing blessings due to the busy-ness of daily living by not making time for the Lord.
Your well-written article delivers the major cause of crime in our world. Pastor Pete, thank you!! I pray many internet surfers read and reread it.
