Psalm 5:2 ‘Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.’

The Hebrew word for king here is melek Strong’s H4428. It means pretty much exactly what you think it would mean; King, royal ruler. The king is the one who rules over His entire domain.

See the thing is there was one other definition that sparked my interest. Melek also means human and divine. It only makes sense. All the Kings of Europe, the Caesars of Rome, the Czars or Russia, the Emperors of Japan and China, the Pharaohs of Egypt, and all the rulers of the ancient Mayan , Aztec and Olmech Empires of South and Central America were believed to be “gods” in human form by their subjects. Unlike all the other kings the world has had, Jesus just happened to actually be GOD in human form. Stepped down off of His throne and became as one of us in order to save us from the curse of sin and death.

The earthly kings demanded absolute loyalty and obedience from their subjects and rewarded them greatly for it. Lands and resources were given to those closest to the king who would act as his governors and rule over sections of his kingdom in his name. They answered only to him and were given great power to carry out the kings plans.

I’m sure you can see the similarities here. Jesus is the King of kings. How much more so should honor and loyalty and obedience be given to Him? And how much more so shall he honor those closest to Him with resources and power to carry out His plans. As a matter of fact he promises us this in His word.

Deuteronomy 28

1And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, toobserve and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. 3Blessed shaltthou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. 4Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of. 5Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. 6Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. 7The LORD shall cause thine enemies that riseup against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, andflee before thee seven ways. 8The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the landwhich the LORD thy God giveth thee. 9The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself,as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways. 10And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD;and they shall be afraid of thee. 11And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruitof thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which theLORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee. 12The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand:and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. 13And the LORD shall makethee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; ifthat thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day,to observe and to do them thy sheep

Honor and wealth to carry out all the plans of the King just because you were loyal and obedient to Him. All of this simply by making Jesus your King. Do you have what it takes to rule and reign with Him at His right hand. Do you have what it takes to be a Lord and a Knight? Make Jesus your King make Him your LORD.
