How many times have we as believers in Christ fallen into the trap of judging someone wrongly? Individually, probably enough times to make each of us squirm. Do we really bother to think when we decide someone has done us a wrong that it is crucial that as believers, we walk carefully. Scripture reminds us that first we need to examine ourselves before judging others, and then in separate places goes so far as to remind us that it is God who judges and will take any action necessary to make things right. We do not need to concern ourselves with thoughts of payback. After all, consider, taking the time to devise ways to make someone pay for a perceived wrong, takes a lot of energy, time and effort. And can cause more heartache on the person retaliating in the end. It is better to follow the Bible and take the proper actions for restoring relationships, or at least attempting to restore relationships with one who has wronged us, rather than judging another, and causing more distress for ourselves, especially if that judgment might cause us to drift into a sinful or wrongful action. The Bible tells us that it will convict us itself of sins, if we pay attention to it, and it is much better to approach both it and other believers with as open and pure a heart and soul as possible than to try trodding along with sin hidden in our lives that will dampen our joy and make it hard if not impossible to do the work God has for us.
