Last year, I started making art for trading cards. I decided to make math cards along with Bible verses or things that are of the Bible. The cards were made for learning and for children. The cards can be made into a trading card game. I made the cards for people to create their own game. The name of the cards are called Little Benny’s Devotions. There are not enough cards designed for a set yet. The ones that are designed are not enough to fill a box. This is a project that I am just beginning. There are no rules because you may make your own rules. You do not need a guide book because there are guide cards. So that means that there are two decks. The guide cards will tell you how much each color card is worth. The devotion card that you see is a red card. According to the guide card for red, this card is 12 points. It is in the art category.
Do you think that trading cards will always be around? I have been thinking about getting into the trading card business. Sometimes I say that trading cards will last forever because people seem to love them. However, the internet is taking over newspapers, magazines, and books. People no longer need them with everything on the internet. With everything on the internet, nobody will need to buy anything. Well, that’s the way it seems right at the moment. If you intend to put your art online for sale, nobody will buy it if you showcase it in full size everywhere on sites. To me, there is nothing like having the real thing. Besides, it cost money to buy lots of ink and photo paper to print copies. Maybe trading cards still stand a chance. For now, my trading cards are only showcase designs.

This is a clever idea. Let me share some thoughts with you…if you could make these cards and market them to places which handle curriculum for Sunday school, children’s church, vacation Bible schools, I think you would see how well these would sell. I have used cards from Great Bible Adventures in Children’s church and also an after school Bible club. Cards are good.
Cards which help children learn Bible verses. Learn about Bible characters, learn the Books of the Bible would be good. Games which could be played with cards would be helpful (fruits of the spirit, the Ten Commandments, the 12 disciples. the I’am’s Jesus claimed in the Gospel of John)…would all be good ideas.
Enjoy your new enterprise, dear! And let me know if you do this and where your items are marketed…maybe you could market it with an internet source? My best to you Catelin
Hi, Catelin! Glad you liked my idea. Someone has already made a game with Bible characters. It is a nationwide popular game called Redemption by Catus Game Design. The cards have beautiful Bible illustrations. Children love it.
I decided to use characters of people of today and things based on the Bible. I suppose, I still could add Bible characters in though. Thanks for your helpful info.
I agree with Catelin. In our local church in the Philippines, from the children’s dep’t. to the ladies’ group, cards have been used as bible markers and as visual aids in our various games during fellowships and even in youth camps. Sometimes, contests are launched on bible marker-making. Thanks for sharing Gail. God bless.
Hi, Kris! Thanks for your info. It’s nice to know something about the Philippines and their activities. Thank you.
