In God’s Manual of Life, the Bible, we read where God had given man the dominion over the ” created works” of His hands. At that time there were no flaw in the creative works of God. Everything that He made was good. To demonstrate how good and perfect His works were, consider the will, brain power, and the intelligence of Adam. Adam did not attend public school nor did he attend a four year college or University. Yet, notice that he was indeed a brilliant intellect who used his faculties wisely when it came to taking care of his home in the Garden of Eden, caring all for the environment, naming the beast of the fields, the fish of the seas, the fowls of the air, and every creeping thing in the earth, he named them all. Even when it came to selecting a mate for life, someone suitable and complimentary for himself, Adam did not select any of the animals who were “spoken into being”, no dogs, cats, cows, pigs, elephants, rhinos, or any of the beasts of the fields or any of the marine life to be intimate with or even ask for another man for that reason. Why not? Because he knew none of the fore mentioned would be suitable a mate. He needed someone who he could love and who could return love. Someone with whom he could hold, caress, and who could communicate with him on an intelligent level and enjoy family life and nature to the fullest.
The last stage in the progress of creation being now reached, let us consider what the LORD God said, “Let us make man” Gen.1:26. These words show not only the Triune God completely in harmony and agreement with what He was about to create, but, it also shows the peculiar importance of the work that was to be done. This formation of a creature, who was to be God’s representative on Earth, clothed with authority and rule as the visible head and monarch of the created world. Not formed in an image foreign to the LORD God but
“In our image, after our likeness.” Every good father wants his child to be like him. This was a peculiar distinction, the value attached to which appears in the words worth repeating twice. You may ask, “in what did this image of God consist?” Certainly not in the erect form or features of man, and it was not in his intellect, for the devil and his angels have similar if not superior traits. In this respect they are far superior. Truly it is not in his immortality, for he has not, like God, a past as well as a future eternity of being; but it was without a doubt in the moral dispositions of his soul, which we have referred to and know as original righteousness.( See Ecclesiastes 7:29 ). The new creation in Christ Jesus is only a restoration of this image, the history of the new throws light on the old. In Scripture we are informed that it is renewed after the image of God in knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness. See Colossians 3:10 and also Ephesians 4:24. We must make our lives count as representatives of the Most High God.
In this twenty-eight verse God said, “Be fruitful and multiply” to the creatures of the human creatures He formed. From that time, the human race in every country and age has produced steadily through pro-creation as offspring of the first pair. Among all the varieties of people found in this world today, some are brown to black, some are red, some copper-colored, others pink to reddish white, the researches of modern science lead to a conclusion, fully in accordance with the sacred history recorded in Scripture as well as Secular writings, that they are all of one species and of one family because out of one blood, Adam’s, God created all nations to dwell upon the face of the earth ( Acts 17:26 ). What awesome foresight, insight given concerning creative power in the word of God! No wonder the psalmist wrote “He spake and it was done. He commanded and all things stood fast” ( Psalms 33:9 ). “Great and manifold are thy works, Lord God Almighty! in wisdom hast thou made them all” ( Psalms 104:24). We have to admire such wisdom, not only in the regular progress of creation, but in its perfect adaptation to the end. God is represented as pausing at every stage of His mighty works to look at it. You almost see through His eyes His marvelous works of creation. Just think of it. There were no flaws or imperfections. Just created goodness. No evil, nothing bad at all. No wonder He contemplated it with complacency. Every object was in its right place, every vegetable process going on in season, all the inorganic, the organic, the fruit trees, the herbs, the animals, the birds of the air, the beast of the field, the marine life of the sea and last, but not least, man and woman, the crowning act of His wondrous creation, within his structure and instincts suited to its mode of life and its use in the economy of the world. He saw everything that He had made answering the plan which His eternal wisdom had conceived; and God looked upon it with His divine approval, and “Behold it was very good” [ Genesis 1:31 ]. The life of the man and his wife was make their lives count in love, labor and in their faithfulness to their Creator and Father, the LORD God Almighty.
How can we to make our lives count? First of all we all we are to be good stewards over all that the LORD has blessed us with. We are to be good keepers and caretakers of the earth that is our home. We can make every life count by preaching, teaching, healing and leading all people to Jesus Christ by doing the “greater works” that we are called to do. Making disciples of all nations throughout the world, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost for the glory of God.
