There are many mega churches in the world so one would have hoped that there would have been a corresponding mega change in the ways of the world’s inhabitants. Apart from that there are millions of people who believe in Jesus all around the world. There are also those who have faith in God but are unaware of Jesus. They do not disbelieve Him they are just unaware of Him in the sense that we may know Him. Why is the world not more righteous? Why is it that far from being righteous the world is getting more and more abominable committing more and more heinous murders and other atrocious crimes?
Salvation is not a lottery system. It is not a hit and miss situation. The requirements are clear.
Mark 16:16 tells us “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
John 14:6 adds “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
The true test of a follower of God is whether you do what God says or not. In Luke 6:46 Jesus said “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” Jesus is not our Lord if we just go to church and read certain portions of His Word and then do not apply it to our lives.
God knew that there would be people who would believe in God while not knowing about Jesus so. He knew some would not believe in Jesus simply because they had never heard about Him in detail because of which region of the world they lived. He knows which people would believe in Jesus if they were to hear more about Him so He gave us a reassuring word that such honest but unenlightened people would have a chance. He said:
(1) Prov. 4:18 “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”
(2) Acts 17:30 “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent.” (See Lev. 4 and 5 for sins of ignorance and also Rom. 2:14,15).
Once you are daily growing in grace, believing and following what God has revealed top you as truth, if you die before learning all that God wants you to do God will understand and save you. But, if you deliberately stay away from His Word so that your conscience will not rebuke you for what you are disobeying, then salvation cannot be imparted.
So, will mega millions be saved or few? Unfortunately, while the answer is that many will be saved, that “many” is relatively small in comparison to the great number of people who have lived since the beginning of the world.
Rom. 9:27 “Esaias also crieth concerning Israel [representative of God’s people] , Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved.”
When a non-Jew showed more faith than anyone in Israel at that time Jesus said in Matt. 8:11,12:
“ And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
When you really think about, God’s true people have always been in the minority.
(1) Only eight people were saved from the Flood and all of them were family – Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives.
(2) Only three people were saved from the burning of Sodom and Gomorrah and all of them were family – Lot and his two daughters (See Gen. 19 and 2 Peter 2:7). Abraham negotiated with God that if God could find ten people in Sodom who were righteous God would spare Sodom (See Gen. 18). Only four were found who left the city. One turned back and if you ask me the rest were not all that righteous. Lot’s two daughters got him drunk and had children for him and so we have the Moabites and the Ammonites!
Those are just two of the many examples.
There will be a great number of people lost.
Re 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
There will be a great number of people saved.
Rev. 7:9,10 tell us that an innumerable number will be saved:
“After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.”
The number of the lost will be much, much greater than the number saved.
Based on only a remnant being saved as we saw in Rom. 9:27, we have to conclude that the number of the righteous saved is only big because they are from the relatively few saved from generation to generation since the beginning of the world.
Matt. 7:13,14 says:
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
Every single person CAN be saved but surprisingly not everyone wants to be saved. It takes a sacrifice that many are not willing to make. . Luke 18 says that there will hardly be rich people in Heaven. They so often place their affections on material things that they turn away from God. The Bible tells us that some will want to be saved but they only desire it.
Luke 13:23,24 says:
“Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,
Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.”
Matt. 22:14 adds “For many are called, but few are chosen.”
Luke 14 tells us that many will be invited but they will turn away God’s messengers because they have other plans that they feel are more important!
We cannot blame God for that. 1 Tim. 2:4 says that God wants “all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
John 3:16 states “For God so loved THE WORLD, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Please notice that the last past of that line is A REPEAT OF THE PREVIOUS VERSE which says:
“That WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:15)
Obviously God wants every single person to be saved. Do you want to be one of the few that will be saved? Are you willing to sacrifice to ensure that you are saved? Do not be a part of the mega millions who will not be saved.

Broad is the way that leads to destruction… many are on this path; the wrong path.
So true, millions will be lost because of the choice to not accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior! A great post!
Thanks everyone. Ashan1614, thanks for reminding me about the text with the strait way and the broadway. I was going to use it when I was writing the article then it slipped my mind. I have since included it as it is the most important two verses on this topic. Matt. 7:13,14 is the reference for the paraphrase you gave earlier.
Good share.
We can’t do anything about that fact that mega million are going to hell..however, we can help them by telling them of how to avoid and escape in going to such a dreadful place..whether they listen or not to such a heed..it’s theirs for the taking
Another spiritual share from a spiritual person..Thank you for sharing

I agree with you that there are people who go to church but are not doing what Jesus preached.
