My Dangerous Faith

The subject heading of the e-mail from a stranger read, “Trinity.” Was it an honest inquiry, or an annoyance heading my way?

I was hoping someone wanted solid Biblical training, but it turned out this man felt I was in error, for I believed in One God who subsists as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As you can see from the above image, we exchanged seventeen e-mails in two days. He desired to terminate the discourse after declaring my faith was dangerous.

We were no longer discussing aspects of the Trinity at that point. Every Scripture I gave him, he ignored or resorted to web pages. His answers and thoughts seemed akin to those of the Watchtower Society (but at the end, he denied any affiliation with any group).

The turning point came when he declared that I was blind. I actually laughed at that thought. My reply to him was something like, “For someone that is blind it is very amazing that God directs me each and every day, from the smallest matters to the largest ones. I have been in Christ since 1970 and have seen His mighty acts, His loving direction and consolation, His gracious healing virtue.”

I think that last phrase got him, since, in his next reply, he said I was a dangerous man in the faith. That really got me laughing and I responded that my faith is so dangerous I’ve seen, through prayer, marriages restored, healings, miracles and more.

I really had better things to do than to argue peripheral theology with some street scholar armed only with a Strong’s Concordance and scores of web pages filled with the spirit of cynicism, and who had a linear myopic view of terms that describe certain spiritual realities. So, I mentioned a vision of Nepal I had in the 1990s and the fact revival occurred there about two years later.

He then stupidly asked why would God give me a vision and not others. That was the crux of his problem, for he did not believe the Scriptures. It is written in Joel 2:28, “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.”

So, it’s not just me. Many true Christians have visions. Many believe in, and practice, spiritual warfare. We rebuke satan (1) out of people and buildings and he goes. The sick are healed. The dead are raised.

Had this sorry person continued his barrage of e-mails, I would have replied, “Hey! If you think I am dangerous, take a look at these people:”

Quick! Someone get a large net! Aren’t these people dangerous? They actually believe God exist and does the miraculous! And, oh my, the results are dangerous, aren’t they? There must be something wrong with believing the Holy Bible and trusting God.

But can you imagine? Marriage restoration, healing, resurrections, miracles, deliverance from satan and sin are dangerous?

No. It is a glorious Gospel we have, one that truly helps mankind(2). Romans 1:16 declares, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power (the Greek word is dunamis, the same one used in reference to miracles) of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.”

The best of it is the fact that through the powerful loving mercy of God we can become sons and daughters of God. This is possible through the finished work of His Son. It is only by the Sonship of Christ that any can be saved. Christ obeyed the heavenly Father the way a pure loving son would. By dying to ourselves, that is, giving up our will in surrender to His will, and permitting Christ to be King within us, we become a redeemed child of God.

Those outside this fold are the ones that are really in danger. And people like this man who e-mailed me, who does not believe what the Holy Scriptures state and avoids their power by using human reasoning, are also in danger.

However, we can look at it this way. If one is a true Christian, their faith is dangerous–to the kingdom of darkness!

It’s annoyance to the max because you have faith in God. Bad people tried their very best to attract your attention towards them. Really, disgusting but we have to face it.
