Lets start with where I went. I went to Davenport, Iowa or Quad Cities. I stayed at Marquette Academy which is over 150 years old! I went with my Church. It was a life changing experience and I grew closer to God spiritually and mentally. I worked at the Arc. That is a home for disabled people and I got a chance to interact with them. The first day there we didn’t get to see them but we did get to paint parking lot lines! Fun right!! The first day we also had to haul logs and sticks to a forest. The second day we had to paint more lines and pull weeds. But we got to meet some people! There was a lady named Debbie and she was really fun. We got to dance and play with them. The third day we went to this home where we had to clean windows and power wash a little deck. Me and 2 other people had to pull a vine covered in berries from a pine cone tree. The vine was “strangling” it. The fourth day was our last and we got to serve root beer floats to the people at the Arc. That was a blast. This is how the days went… We got up at 6:30 and went down to eat breakfast. Then we gathered up for devotionals. Those are things you do alone. After devos we had free time until it was time to leave for our ministry sites. We ate lunch at our sites and at 3:00 we left for the showers. We had to wear a swimming suit because the showers were open. After that we got back to the “home” and had free time till dinner. After dinner was the evening activity. That was either going to a water park, going on a walk, getting ice cream, or going to a church service. After the evening activity of the day we had club time. That is where you talk about the day and sing praises to God. We also do Yay God’s where you YayGod for different things. After club we have church group time where you get together with your church and talk. Then we get ready for bed. Lights are out at 11:00pm. On Thursday at club ,since it was our last full day, we had foot washing. It was very emotional and quiet Also on Thursday we went to a picnic where you play and eat. Everyone in the neighborhood is invited. Some people haven’t eaten all day so it is an opportunity for those people to eat. On Friday we departed at 9:30am. I got a few peoples e-mails and I want to keep in touch with them always. A mission trip helps you grow closer to God and not only that you feel Gods presence in you. You help make a difference in the community.
