I do not understand why we are told to pray to Jesus. I will not try to claim that I am an authority on this subject, but these are my observations.
Praying to Jesus over God
The first commandment given to us is “Do not have any gods before me.” By praying to Jesus, is that not having a gob before the one true God?
To update things further, the teachings of Jesus himself state that you, “First, love God your Creator more than anything else…..”
When one prays to Jesus and praises him are you not neglecting your love for God our creator?
There is the argument that the Trinity is God as a whole and by worshiping Jesus is is one in the same as worshiping God our Creator. What I have to say is that I believe the holy trinity is Catholic Dogma. The Catholic Church to me has lost all of its integrity a thousand years ago and anything it created must be approached with extreme skepticism.
The Lord’s Prayer
Giving the holy trinity some credit, (purely because some others will do so) I must say that Jesus himself taught us to pray to the father.
Jesus’ followers asked him how to pray and the result was them being taught The Lord’s Prayer (a.k.a Our Father) in this prayer where does it say for us to pray for Jesus? The “Son” is not even mentioned within the prayer.
Accepting Jesus
The root of this Jesus prayer and worship may lie in Jesus stating that you must accept him as your savior in order to be accepted into heaven. Maybe it is an issue of different translations, but accepting him as a savior and worshiping him seem like two separate things.
Personally I will not pray to Jesus, it may be an abstract difference in the big scheme of things; but, when I can talk to God why would I talk to Jesus? I will put God my creator above all other gods and that includes Jesus.

“The Catholic Church to me has lost all of its integrity a thousand years ago and anything it created must be approached with extreme skepticism.” You can despise the Catholic Church, but there is Biblical discussion of the Trinity. Feel free to read my article on Bliblical justification of the Trinity.
I cannot quote chpater and verse, I think it comes from the sermon in John at the Last Supper. “No one comes to the Father except through the Son”. This is why we pray to Jesus as God the Son as intercessor to God the father.
mmmm … so what happens if Jesus IS in fact God, God come into this world in human form like the Bible says?
Rask, I would appreciate it greatly if you could tell me where in the Bible it says Jesus is in fact God. If not line and verse, possibly a general area.
Much appreciated.
Hey Jim. The following is from John’s gospel. Seems to me to be saying that Jesus is God, only God come in human form.
“Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?”
What I do is pray to God in the name of Jesus. Surely takes some figuring out. Keep asking the questions.
Rask, I posted this on my article, I will post in yours.
Matthew 11:27
We pray to Jesus to interceede for us to to the Father.
No one comes to the father but through me.
As a very dedicated Protestant Christian, with a lot of protest in my nature, I pray to God the Father, in the name of Jesus, and I pray through the indwelling Holy Spirit. Three in one is how I see the Godhead.
See my article on prayer, please.

May I comment:
I think till human being was created by Allah SWT, The God, The only God, we had known that who was the real creator here. Do not ever doubt the existence of Allah SWT (Almighty) then think that perhaps Isa AS(you called is Jesus) is a God. Because Allah SWT is the former and never end although independen day come. Then Isa AS born and you think that he died? I am sure Isa AS prove himself that he is only a human, although he is more holy than other human for example,he is only a nabi that we must and have to respect him. Do not ever doubt to this fact!
Do not ally Allah with anything else. Do not ever being mislaid. Hope Allah SWT Almighty leads us to the truth.
Allah explained in Al Quran that Isa AS(you called his as Jesus) could make someone lived again only because of Allah’s Help. So, it meant who had made that death person became alive still, Allah did.
Wassalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh (to muslim)!
Jammalakallah (to non-muslim)(it means in English,”Hope Allah SWT makes you good or better”).
