On October 31, 1517 Martian Luther in response to the sale of indulgences by the Catholic Church nailed his 95 Theses to the door of Church in Wittenberg. At the time he did not in tend start a religions revolution but in doing so started what has come to be known as the Protestant Reformation.
The full effect that this has had on history is incalculable. Regardless of your religious perspective we of the 21st century have much for which to be grateful to Martian Luther. The reason for this is because he did more than any single man to free the western world from the tyranny of the Catholic Church.
In world that Martian Luther the Catholic Church absolute authority over religious matters and they persecuted and event executed dissenters. Martian Luther started the process the broke those bond first leading to religious freedom and then political freedom.
For Christians, Martian Luther’s legacy is in the form of not only religious freedom but great hymns and other reforms of worship services. Even more importantly he is started the idea of people having the Bible in their own language leading eventually to King James Bible in English. In preaching salvation by grace through faith alone Martian Luther helped bring salvation and true liberty in Christ to countless millions.
Martian Luther preached much about individual Christian liberty and this eventually lead to religious and political liberty we enjoy today. As a result even the most Bible hating atheist should to be grateful to Martian Luther for helping to bring about freedom that allows him to openly be such.
