God never wanted us to be lonely. That’s why he made Eve for Adam. I think Satan works through our loneliness and tempts us like he did Eve. When some people are lonely, sometimes they become attracted to things that are not good for them. They choose the wrong crowd. They have got to fill up that big empty space or something that is missing in their lives. Some people are so bored with life that they turn to alcohol and drugs. There is nothing to do. That’s why I believe that loneliness is a demon.
When someone gets lonely, they began to be tempted. Satan tempts us just as he did Jesus in St. Matt. 4. People can have desires and feelings that they wouldn’t normally have. The desires and feelings can come from loneliness. If Satan can not get you to give into what you are feeling, you can become very depressed from loneliness. Then he’s going to try to destroy you through depression and try to make you loose your mind. Depression is a demon.
Some people get married because they are lonely. They rush to get married and marry anybody. Some people do not take the time to choose carefully or really get to know that person. All they know is that they have to have someone in their life. Some people think because a person is nice to them that is the person that they should choose. Then when they marry that person, they find that they are just as lonely as they were before they got married. Some people get out of one bad situation and jump right into another bad situation. It never ends. It goes on and on like a wheel barrel. Some people think that they need to experiment until they find what it is they want and end up in a big mess.

Dear Gail
What an interesting artcle! You are right to a degree about Satan workng though loneliness. But Satan also works through other avenues…what ever your weakness is; anything from busy-ness to wasting time surfing the internet, to over spending.
What ever will pull you from God’s will. A very good read on this subject is When The Enemy Strikes by Dr. Charles Stanley
Yes, you are so right, Catelin. I just narrowed it down to loneliness because I see it most and depression. I have been through some depression in the past. I think a lot of people go through it some point and time in their life. I like watching Charles Stanely too.
One of my desires is to let God draw near to me, and me to him, when I am experiencing loneliness.
In your case, Brian, loneliness is a good thing.
