Christmas is the time for gifts, merriment, good wishes – everything bright, wonderful, and positive. But for one family it is weighted with the anxiety, concern and perhaps fear for their eleven year old son, who has been diagnosed with cancer (Hodgkin’s Lymphoma).
Some may have the attitude that they do not want to hear anything that is sad, sorrowful, negative during this season of gaiety, good wishes, and joy. But as Christians, we are commanded by the Lord to care for one another and to pray for one another; in short we are to help bear the burdens of our sisters and brothers in the Lord.
I received an email from an “email buddy” who forward the following letter to me, with a desperate request for prayer for this child, and to pass it on to as many people as I can.
Here is the email request:
“I am starting a signing for my son’s best friend who has cancer (Hodgkin’s Lymphoma). He is 11 years old and is not doing well. He was diagnosed with this cancer 2 weeks ago and the tumor is next to his jugular vein and entwined in it. It has moved his wind pipe over an inch making it hard for him to breathe. The tumor is the size of a large eggplant and is sitting right above his heart.
This little boy needs all the prayer he can get.
Once we get a thousand people can you please send this back to me at 1volsgirl@bellsouth.net When I get the 1000 people that have signed it, I am going to print this up for my son’s best friend and show him how many people care and how many people are praying for him to get better. If you have a heart at all you will all do this for me. I love this child as though he is my own and we really need all the prayers!
Thank You.
Please don’t just forward this – copy and paste it into a new message then add your name to the bottom of the list and send it out to as many people as you can and pray for him!”
There are over 700 who have forward this letter and signed it. The goal is 1000. But why stop at 1000? This child is critically ill. Put yourself into his parents shoes, think of the anguish they must be going through. Let’s all seek the Lord for a miracle the Christmas – that of healing for this child.
Please, if you
- Believe God does answer prayer
- That God is the Great Physician and can heal any illness
- That Jesus is the same yesterday, today, forever – and is our Healer
Then, pray for this family. Put them on your prayer list, make a note on your desk calendar, tack a note onto your refrigerator – whatever it takes to help you remember to pray for this child and his family, please do it.
I believe God can and will answer our prayers, and this child will be healed.
The Book of Psalm tells us (vs. 6:9) NIV
“The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; The Lord accepts my prayer.”
And in the Book of James, chapter 5 verses 15-16:
“And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well….pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man (person) is powerful and effective.”
I believe God is ready to grant this prayer, but He needs to know that His children care enough to ask Him for this special gift of healing for this child – He is ready, willing and able to perform this Christmas miracle. Please pray and pass this message onto all you know. Thanks. And God Bless.
