It appears there are clicky people in church amongst the women (never the men of course) unless you debate the current issue of do men sin more than women but that is a different argument altogether and controversial as the Vatican has found since introducing it, so instead of having this unofficial mothers union have an official one called “mothers union”.
This could involve tea, coffee, biscuits discussing the men in the church, how worships is done, whether you like the music tunes, it happens anyway so why not have an official name for these people instead of their unofficial title “Grumpy old women’s club”.
There could be a Chief Official Mothers Union Leader to co-ordinate meetings and a person to organise a topic to discuss. This would be a great ministry and who knows what kind of effects this group could have on the whole church!!!.
Calling all women what do you think? I am sure this would be a growing membership in more ways men could think of, next they may have an official men’s groaning club instead of a few people meeting after church at someone’s house or the local pub for a pint!!!

I think you have completely misunderstood the aims and objectives of the Mothers\’ Union. please look at our website http://www.mothersunion.org and find out about the ways in which we provide Christian care for families.
The Mothers\’ Union also has over 1,000 men as members, we range in age from teenagers to 100.
However I do agree with one point, every church should have an official Mothers Union branch. Just not the sort you described.
What kind of things do Mothers Union do constructively then?
What practical outreach do you personally do?
Why dont you think churches have an official mothers union?
The Mothers’ Union in the diocese where I live has a range of projects which you can see on our diocesan website http://www.mothersunionchester.co.uk From supporting soup kitchens in South Africa, to Parenting programmes, providing creche facilities in prisons for visiting time, holidays for those in need, the list goes on.
Personally I am involved in setting up a network of support groups for families who have had a sick or premature baby. I am also involved in the management team that supports our full time Family Life officer. this is a jointly funded post with the Church of England Chester Diocese. This post focuses on five areas of family life, Baptism outreach, parenting, marriage, bereavement and the older person. I also co-ordinate the joint outreach of the Mothers’ Union and the church at local Wedding fairs. I have part time job working in the area of research into family dynamics, and I also work for the Brazelton centre. This work informs the project work I undertake for the Mothers’ Union.
I don’t think the church realizes what a gem of an organisation the Mothers’ Union is, and we don’t take the time to get our message across. Although as marketing unit co-coordinator I am doing my best.
