What is truth?
The meaning of truth is factual information. The Hebrew Bible-Tanakh answers the question about truth. In Jeremiah 10:10-12 it states, “But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation”. vs.11 Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.” vs12 “He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.”
In the Tanakh, we can clearly understand that God has a personality, which is an everlasting, never dieing soul. We can notice that God gets angry, who doesn’t? This indicates that God has emotions, another example of characteristics, which means God is alive. God also exhibits that he doesn’t tolerate competition or comparison himself. He states, “the gods that didn’t make heaven and shall perish.” A clear indication that God says, “He is above all man made and created gods.” God also predicts and warns us that them gods we created or thought of will, “will be destroyed and fade off the face of the planet.” That something we ought to take heed to.
Also in Jeremiah 10:12, God clearly indicates He is all powerful. The same verse describes a God that highly intelligent, that even scientists will be at awed with the mysteries of the sky and universe. It’s also an indication that what appears too look old and full of years, isn’t in itself old too God at all.
God of the heavens and earth has a unique personality that separates him from created thoughts or images of any man-made gods. God recognizes the carpentry and craftiness of man. He makes his gods from the tree barks of wood, clay, and ceramic pieces made by their hands. Man has tried to configure the universe, so within himself thought that one day, he himself would be elevated to a god.-Wrong!! In Jeremiah 10:14-15 God clearly states, “Every man is brutish in his own knowledge:” In other-words, God never intended for man to rely on his own knowledge, “because man is brutish-or stupid” to believe that the idols made by hand, has any merit or sense in them. God indicates that man-made idols are stupid, have no power, no soul, no emotions, no personality, nor worth anything, but will be judged and destroyed.
In Jeremiah 10:16, God reminds us he is not like those idols, because He made everything. And God have chosen the Jewish people to be His chosen people, and when they are saved, they will be special. All others will be adopted into the family of faith. The name of God is “Omnipotent” meaning, the “All Powerful God.
