I don’t recall where I came across this quote, in an email I think, but I have no idea of its author:
When God leads you to the edge of the cliff, trust Him fully and let go,
only 1 of 2 things will happen, either He’ll catch you when you fall, or
He’ll teach you how to fly!
To me, these few words really sum up something that I have trouble with at times, and suspect many do: Stepping out in complete faith. The key I believe is in the word “trust”; we have to turn what ever it is over to God 100% and totally trust in His providence.
More often than not when we step out in complete faith, trusting solely in Him, not in our abilities, He’s going to “teach you to fly”. The problem is we are often scared of heights, so to speak, and reluctant to put ourselves out there. I know readily admit this is a problem for me, though with the lord’s help it is becoming less and less of one.
I also believe that sometimes, even when we are turning it all over to Him things aren’t going to go just like we hope or plan. But that is when He is there to catch us. These times are, I think, some of the most valuable opportunities to grow and learn to trust Him all the more.
The next time God is telling you to do something, don’t think about how inadequate you might be, or what could go wrong. Don’t even consider how nutty the idea may be to others either; that is one of the enemy’s strongest weapons against us I firmly believe. The next time Jesus calls on you to do something for Him, march out to the edge of the cliff, tell Him “Your will be done” and step off the edge in total faith. No matter the outcome, one thing I know, He’ll be there with you all the way.
Mat 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Precious Heavenly Father,
I pray that I will always be obedient to Your call, whenever it comes, for what ever purpose. I know that You will be with me and through the strength imparted to me through Christ Jesus I can do anything You ask.
