Why does man want to find the Ark of the Covenant today? He does not need it when he has Jesus the son and God the father. Don’t they know that God was in the Ark of the Covenant? (Numbers 10:33) “And they departed from the mount of the Lord three days’ journey: and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them in the three days’ journey, to search out a resting place for them.” I believe where ever it is, God moved it from man, and it is his will that it is not found today.
If man would just remember that the ark of the covenant was a sacred chest. It is known as the ark of the Lord (Josh. 6:11), the ark of God (1 Sam. 3:3), and the ark of the Testimony (Ex. 25:22). So if it is the Lord’s ark and still not found, why do men search for it? What do they plan to do with it if they found it? Are they searching for it as treasure with their greed? I think they better leave it alone then. It might be their death if they found it.
The Ten Commandments
Within the ark were the two stone tablets containing the Ten Commandments (Ex. 25:16, 21). I know that cannot be why man is interested in the ark. There are men that want to get rid of the Ten Commandments today and really do not keep the Ten Commandments in their hearts. It is said that at the dedication of Solomon’s Temple, Aaron’s rod and the golden pot of manna were gone. According to 1 Kings 8:9, there was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone which Moses put there at Horeb. The Ten Commandment tablets were probably needed most written in our Bibles today.
The Pot of Manna
Are men searching for the Ark because of the pot of manna? Jesus said in St. John 6:48, “I am that bread of life. (49) Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. (50) This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.(51) I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” Man ought to be seeking Jesus more than any thing in this entire world.
Aaron’s Rod
What would men do with Aaron’s rod if it were found? There are people that would worship it, sell it for millions of dollars, or they would simply put it in a museum. Aaron’s rod that budded was to prove that Aaron was God’s chosen (Num. 17:1-ll). It was meant for Aaron. Man does not need it. It wouldn’t do him any good.
If man found the ark of the covenant today, I think history would repeat itself. In the Bible days, man trusted the magic power of the ark rather than God. The Israelites took the ark into battle against the Philistines and were defeated (1 Sam. 4:1-11). The ark of God was taken. In the Bible days, a man named Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled (1 Chronicles 13: 9). (10) And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.
Men are looking for the ark of God and hoping to find it today. No one knows what became of the ark. According to research, it disappeared when Nebuchadnezzar’s armies destroyed Jerusalem in 586 B.C. I think it is just God’s will, and it is an ark that is better off not being found again.

A well written post. I had the last glimpse of the ark during Indiana Jones movie back in late 70’s.I hope it is still intact in good hands.
that a great write

This is very interesting. Thanks for sharing this with us.
very interesting article..
Thank you too.
the meaning of the ark of the covenant, or ‘box of witness’, is within the text that describes it, therefore all efforts to find it are pointless, as are the ludicrous claims of its whereabouts. it is beyond all reasoning to suggest that there is any great secret about it; it is described in detail in the most published book on the planet. the answer to its meaning is lurking, literally, just under our noses. if we strip away the mystical notions of its alleged power and lethality and look at it from a logical point of view its relevance becomes clear. it is the penultimate lesson of the whole tent of meeting and all of its attendant equipment. the basic line is that the adam and eve story is cleverly entwined in the empirical elements of the scarificial system, which provides the quirky, and very simple, solution to the creation story. this story is a tale of the interaction of a man and a woman, and a mirror and self cognisance, in an eternal dance around a mysterious tree in a far off enclosure of delight. the cherubim are not what we think; they are the physical representation of the multitudes covering each other rather than covering themselves. this is where mercy lives; between the cheribum, in the privacy of their tent. the symbols of the law are conquered in the box that is so very like an egyptian ossuary box, that, according to Paul contains “the law of sin and death.” the emblems within the box are the symbolic representations of the transaction of statements between the central characters. no one could touch the box because it was a clear breach of the law, the one that relates to “…not making an engraved image of anything above or below…,” yet Moshe is commanded to make one! he is the original law breaker, which, as part of his role as law giver, is a necessity. David broke the law by eating of the bread, yet he is the national hero; and rightly so. this guy was unbelievable, what a life; treachery, murder, lust, betrayal, wars and bloodshed, yet he never baulked at looking at himself in the mirror of truth. this is the characteristic that made him so successful; he had a very high intrapersonal IQ. not the biggest guy, nor the smartest, on the block, but not scared of anyone. he is the man that danced naked as the ark came into town, and woe betide any who disparraged him, as we know from the text. he got it; he knew the ark was about the naked truth of man, which is the ultimate truth of the law. Jeremiah (i think) says “know thyself, man”; how simple can one put it?
the complete sacrificial, or cult, as the intellectuals call it, sytem is a memnonic of the scrolls that comprise creation to Noe’s sons; a fantastic and profound peice of literature that has kept many busy for many years, from the lunatic fringe to the halls of academe, yet neither of these branches get it!
the messiah didn’t come to justify the law, he came to fulfil it, in every detail. “it is finished” is the cry, but who hears it…?
